Default McDaniels privately worked out McCoy

Ed Werder was on SportsCenter from Denver and said following working out Tim Tebow in Denver on Monday with GM Brian Xanders, HC Josh McDaniels stopped in Texas Tuesday to hold a private workout with Texas QB Colt McCoy.

Werder said McDaniels and Xanders then sat down with their front office members and made their final plans depending on different scenerios that could fall in the draft.

I'd rather pick Tebow at 11 then waste any pick on McCoy.

Colt McCoy completed all 58 of his pass attempts during his Pro Day. Most reports, including Mike Lombardi's, cite that McCoy was "only average." He might be chosen in Day 2, but the shorter clone of Kyle Orton should probably be chosen in Round 4.

I can't see the point in drafting him.

I'd have much more faith in Quinn turning it around and becoming a good player than I would in McCoy every amounting to much.

We have Orton, who is solid with the potential to be a borderline top 10 QB in this system. We have Quinn, who has struggled thus far but with some good coaching might also be an above average NFL QB one day.

If we're going to take a QB in the draft, it needs to be one with a much higher upside than either of these guys. To me that means Tebow. Obviously Bradford would be tremendous, but it's not realistic. So either take your punt on Tebow and try and develop the monstrous talent he has into a legit NFL player, or don't draft a QB at all IMO.

Actually John Skelton is another QB I'd be somewhat interested in seeing us bring in.

Needs a lot of work too, but his skillset is very impressive.

I agree with all of you so far. McCoy is a wuss. Didn't everyone see what happened when there was NFL type pressure on him. First, Suh had him scared sh**t*ess, and he was horrible all game long. Then in the big game, he takes a hit that wasn't even that bad and quits on his team.

I'd rather have tebow than McCoy. However, I would much rather get nutty and go after SUH!!!

Anyone watch Grudens QB Camp SC special last night? He said he couldn't get rid of McCoy , the kid would've stayed there all day drawing up plays. The Kid wants to be GREAT, he isn't going to be outworked, and has the ability to gain the trust of the guys. I think he'd be a great pick.

Although they may not mean much reports like this scare the shiz out of me. If we don't take BPA in round 1, and address the interior O-line and hopefully either DL or WR in the first 3 rounds, I will be become very irrational like the resident drama queens.

TonyR if we trade back to 24 with the Eagles we will probably be able to grab McCoy at the 37 spot..not in the 1st.

I love Skelton. Only QB I have any interest in bringing in. He has more upside than anyone in this draft and could be available in the 4th.

If we do take a QB in any round it would be the foneco for Brandstater.

I have a feeling Clausen will be a Bronco with 11 pick.

Wait until Sunday before you do. Super deep draft. We could probably get eventual DL starters in the 5th even.

I hope that we don't pull the trigger on Tebow early, and someonne else pulls the trigger on McCoy. Let's just take those options off the table.

I don't have a real problem with McCoy, and I like him, but i've said before that i'm no more excited to see him than I am Quinn (Brady that is).

The advantage of McCoy over Orton is natural athleticism. Quinn already has that. Quinn was just as productive in college, and is now returning to the sytem that made him successful - good reason for hope.

We just don't need a QB if we have the chance to build the lines with blue chip talent (first three rounds).

Jonathan Crompton is a much better QB for the future then McCoy is. Even Phil Simms thinks McCoy is a turd QB. I respect his views on turd QB's because he raised one.

OMG, this post is full of fail. You honestly think that McCoy was scared to go back in the NCG? While I agree that the hit wasn't huge, I think McCoy would have given just about anything to play that game. You suggesting he "quit on his team" is absurd.

Again, why? Why should we waste picks on QB, but McDaniels is burning down the whole team? We have Orton (McDaniels loves, but can't throw downfield), Quinn (McDaniels's loves but can't throw a accurate pass), and Brandstater (The second coming of Tom Brady). Maybe if we still had Nolan coaching defense, or didn't have a huge gaping need at Wide Receiver, I could see a QB pick, but wasting a draft pick here?

Stupid. Unless we had two first round picks. But we spend that on a 5'9 corner who got benched.

Colt McCoy could very well be the best QB in the draft. I've coached QB's for 15 years and he's got it.

If Denver has a shot at him in the 2nd, they should take him, but he will go in the 1st round or beginning of the 2nd round.

McCoy will be a pretty solid NFL QB. Safe, smart and efficient. Kid loves to learn and play the game and will push himself as much as possible. I could care less for the Longhorns, but he's a good QB. For a 4th, I have no issues with trying to see what he could become.

I would take him at 80 (3.16) if he's still there.

Not before the third though.
