Default Raiders contact Steelers about Big Ben

According to NFL Network's Jason La Canfora, the Raiders are in contact with the Steelers about a trade for Ben Roethlisberger.

NFL Network is reporting that with the suspension coming down coupled with the image issues that the Steelers will have trouble getting a single 1st rounder. Nothing more than the 8th pick might do it.

Convert JaMarcus to DT...makes sense to me.

Seriously, I think Big Ben could conceivably succumb to Todd Bertuzzi Syndrome if he's moved. While one incident was on-ice and the other(s) were not, I think trading Ben would negatively effect his ego and his mindset as a player and person. If that weren't bad enough, he gets shipped to the poster child for dysfunctionality, negativity, and dumpster-diving in the Raiders. He and Pittsburgh were a match made in heaven--a midwestern rust belt kid in a blue collar city, playing the style he plays.

Recall Bertuzzi losing any semblance of toughness after the moore incident. He was at the top of his game, coming off an all-star starter season, and just lost his edge mentally, leaving behind his physical play after the moore thing. I think Ben's embarrassed and ashamed while the people of Pittsburgh (most, that is) are sickened by his behavior (don't forget about the bike accident and previous allegations). He may be of little use to the silver and black for mental reasons alone.

Screw Todd Bertuzzi, screw Rapistberger, and screw the Raiders.

Perfect really. Oakland would get a QB that they not only need on the field, but one that also retores that good ole, traditional Raider image that the Bengals have nearly cornered the market on in recent years.

I'd rather let the raiders draft given their track record.

I agree. We're far more likely to get who we want with the Raiders picking above us.

I cannot believe the Steelers cannot get at least 1 first round pick for Big Ben. Seriously, we are talking about a Pro bowl, Super Bowl, QB. He's a bonehead for sure, but many a moron has had more chances than him, and not many had his credentials. I personally hope he does not go to the Raiders.

Not in this case IMO. If Pittsburgh makes this trade, then it seems very likely that the rumors about them making a move for Bradford weren't just rumors.

Ben R. might be a fat rapist, but he would improve the Raiders to an 8-8 team almost immediately.

AFC West fans had better hope this doesn't happen.

Big Ben could really help make the Raiders a much improved team. I hope that doesn't happen!

Without a first round pick and Rothlisberger on the bench for 6 games, I find it hard to think the faid would go 8-8 this season.

Big Ben is better QB than Kyle Orton.
We lost to jamarcus russell.

I hope Raiders don't get Ben.Their team will be vastly improved.

Not this season, perhaps... but definitely going forward.

Do you really want him suiting up for the Raiders when we need to beat them to secure a playoff spot down the stretch...?

I wouldn't want the Steelers picking above us. OTOH I'm pretty confident Big Ben would
suck it playing for the faid. OTOOH I'm pretty happy with Jamarcus sucking it up with the faid. So I say let's hope that this trade doesn't go down.

I hate the Raiders. I hate Ben. Hope it happens. By the by, isn't at least one rape a prerequisite for Raiders season tickets?

The Steelers could get the Raiders #8 and then trade that and their #18 for the #1 slot and take Bradford. I'll bet the Rams would take that.

Then why not just trade Roethlisberger and the #18 to the Rams for the #1....
