Default Post Marshall Mock

11 - Giants trade #15 and #76 for this pick to take McClain.

15 - Sean Witherspoon, MLB - Spoon is really starting to grow on me and I wouldn't mind if we even took him at 11, though it would be hard to have that much financial commitment to the LB position with DJs salary. At 15 we get him for a little cheaper. This could also preclude a draft day trade of DJ...
43 - Benn, WR - Same type of receiver as Marshall. He might go in the late 1st, early 2nd though but hopefully he makes it to this pick.
45 - Tyson Aluaha, DE - fast riser on boards, might be better suited to play 5-tech than Odrick, plus has the production there in college.
76 - John Jerry, OG/OT - Has the versatility to play multiple line positions and could come in at guard and backup Harris. Other possibilities are Jon Asamoah, Mike Johnson
80 - Jacoby Ford, WR/Specialist - What? 2 WRs taken? I think we look for Ford to take over special teams duty so that Royal can concentrate on receiving. Ford could also be a great downfield threat.
4th rd - Montario Hardesty, RB - I believe that this pick or our 3rd rounder will be used on a RB because we really don't have much depth here. Buck is always hurt, and Moreno showed that he needs a compliment back so that he doesn't get wore down. Ben Tate is also an option here.

trade Scheffler to Bengals or some other team for a 4th rounder (I know I'm being optimistic on this one as we probably will only get a 5th)

4th rd from Scheff - Joe Hawley, C - Has the versatility to play all along the line. Will battle Olsen for starting center position.
6th rd - Matt Dodge, P - please no more berger!
7th rd - CJ Lovett, CB - more depth is needed for the secondary as our secondary is getting older. Likely spends first season on practice squad

Some might be disappointed in not getting a center too high in the draft, but unless we invest a 1st rounder in pouncey, there is a huge drop off in talent anyway. I would rather have Spoon over Pouncey anyway as he is a great leader and will be the new Al Wilson of our defense.

If we trade down to 15 I'd hope to get an OL there. I like Spoon, but I think you can get a very good ILB in the 2nd or 3rd round. Whatever ILB we select is going to be a two down player. No sense in doing that in the first round.

At 15- Pouncey, Iupati, or any of the big OTs that fall. Davis/Trent Williams/Bulaga/etc.

43- OL again! Saffold/Jerry/Ducasse/etc.

45- WR- Williams looks to be a safe bet. Instinctive and great routes. Looks like he will be a very solid possession receiver at the next level. IMO, that is what we will miss about Brandon Marshall the most. On 3rd and 6 you could count on BMarsh getting enough separation or using his size to shield a receiver and pick up the first down. While Williams doesn't have that size, he does offer the ability to create separation with excellent routes.

76- Cam Thomas- Big DT that can play DE as well giving us some great size along the DLine.

80- Jacoby Ford- I really like what he brings to the table. Return skills a bonus.

4th Round- I doubt Hardesty or Tate will be around, but if they are they would be excellent picks. I would be interested in Blount or Charles Scott as well. Size being the key.

From then on, BPA baby!

I like where you are going here, but I think the Giants could stay put and still get McClain if they want him.

they are rumored to like Spiller as well and most certainly would have to jump seattle to get him.

Fields and Baker and Bannon will spell him. I'd like to see what Baker has after one year of training.

I dont' know much about the late rounders, but I really like the first 4 rounds. Spoon is also growing on me. I don't know if Alualu (I dont' know how so many people get the second half of his name wrong, lol) and Jerry would last that long though. They both seem like very safe picks, not a lot of untapped potential, but also little bust factor. Hardesty is a nice pick too, always good to have another angry runner.

I'm not sure that NT is a given in the top 3. I have us taking a DE and I think OL is definitely possible especially if we trade back in the 1st. I just like spoons value over someone like pouncey and iupati. One of our 2nd rounders will definitely be used on a WR. I can see OL as the other is a Saffold or Ducasse drops, but we can get quality starting guards through rd 3 (Asamoah, Jerry, Johnson, Beadles, etc.).

So, unless we take pouncey in the first I can see us waiting until the third to address the interior line. Waldon, Tennant, Larsen as well as the aforementioned guards - one of them will be there. We still have Olsen who I think we are fairly high on and it would be foolish to just give up on him after a year. Look at Harris - many thought he was a bust cause he didn't play his first year and now he is one of our bookend tackles.

I see us taking 2 interior lineman with one of them able to play guard and backup Harris at RT, and the other lineman capable of playing center and guard.

Yeah, even Benn might not be there in the 2nd and Alualu is really rising fast. Jerry could even be a 2nd rounder. However, in every draft there are always people who get drafted way higher than some of us thought allowing more prospects to drop. Let's hope that is the case for the people we have brought in.

That would be fine with me, say Dan Williams at 11 and an OC/OG prospect at 43/45.

We don't know how the staff has the younger guys on the roster rated, guys like Chris Baker, Marcus Thomas.

denverbroncos.com has one OC listed on the roster, Dustin Fry. We just don't know what the staff is thinking right now as their priorities, but OC/OG seems like will be addressed high. We'll find out in a week.

There's two punters listed on the roster, Colquitt and AJ Trapasso.
