Default Any Ironmen here?

I am toying with the idea of doing the Tempe 2011 ironman or the 2011 coeur d'alene ironman. It is a life goal for me and I figure now is the time.

I have done sprints in the past. A full IM doesn't really agree with my drinking hobby.

I have seen the CDA event twice. Nice one to pick.

However, if it is a life goal....Kona is still king.

You have to qualify for Kona which is about impossible unless your almost a pro triathalete. I think I am going to go for Coeurdalene next june.

I have done sprint triathlons as well- great total body training. Make sure you buy a wetsuit, good running shoes, and do some group training as it helps keep you motivated.

Ironman, holy crap, I am jacked in just doing a small triathlon in July. Hitting my first 10k of the year on the 17th though. Going to be very interesting, I have been running 4-6 miles every other day for the past four months or so, but doing it for competition is another thing.

Yeah Ironman. Go big or go home. The Olympic Tri distance just isn't quite enough for me and I can run a marathon or ride 100 miles on my bike but to do those two plus swim in same day will be the ultimate challenge. It is mostly mental with some dedicated training and anyone can do it. I just want to finish and am not trying to set any records.

Leave it to Hotrod to make his return in an Ironman thread.

Yes, I have the watch. It's not as hard to get as most people think.
