Default Greatest Bronco plays of all time: Terrell's Big Run

On my blog at http://sportsindenver.blogspot.com/

Before getting to my top 5 bronco plays of all time, here's another "honorable mention" play. I can't compile a list of all time great Bronco plays without some mention of Terrell Davis.

It was a windy day January 17, 1999 when the Broncos hosted the NY Jets in the AFC Championship game. 50 mile-per-hour winds neutralized the Broncos and John Elway's great passing attack, so this game clinching run was the key play in a Bronco victory:

Davis had so many big runs in the playoffs, it was difficult to pick just one. In eight career playoff games he accumulated 1,140 yards rushing on 204 carries and 12 touchdowns. The Broncos victory over the Jets was also the last playoff game at Mile High Stadium, and John Elway's last home game.

Next: resuming the countdown with the #5 play on my list against an opponent who was victim to many great bronco plays over the years (the Cleveland Browns)

That game went from 10-0 to 23-10 in a heartbeat.

Anybody have that highlight from the week before against the Dolphins when TD faked Brock Marion out of his jock?

That was a better run. The double juke. I was at that game.

It's really a great play that shows the bread and butter run for the Broncos during that season. I was at the Philly game in the South Stands when Davis racked up like a 180 yards in the first half. When the Broncos were protecting the south endzone, and they were running that pitch sweep play, it was like Moses parting the Red Sea. Davis just destroyed that team and the thing is, on those long runs, you have to have speed. Those were some good times. I don't really remember the 2nd half, I was wasted drunk by that time...

Obviously I miss all of those great players, but I also miss Mile High Stadium and that atmosphere. There was nothing like Mile High Stadium, Invesco can't come close and neither can the new generation of fans.

I was at that game....very windy.

I remember being nervous when it was 10-0.

I also remember being drunk and stoned and throwing up after the game in the parking lot of a Hooter's and then taking a nap around the toilet bowl at my bud's place after that.

My favorite TD long runs were in losing efforts, at Houston in '95 and at Kansas City in '96.

I'll never forget sitting the South Stands and getting to see Elway take his final victory lap around Mile High after the game.

titan, you may want to consider compiling these Broncos great plays of all time into one single thread, and list a brief description on its link so people can look them up.
Perhaps the mods can assist you in making a section for it, or at least a sticky.
Thanks for putting such a good effort in creating such a collection of great moments in our team's history...

Counting the playoffs, TD's '97 and '98 seasons are probably the best two year stretch of football by any player at any position.

Cal whatever play you like, with a forward surge like that at the line, it's usually going to be a good gain. TD's vision takes care of the rest...

That was some beautiful blocking and some excellent 1-cut running, every defender has a blocker on him and TD spots his hole and then nobody is going to stop him, just a beautiful play.

TD wasn't touched until he was passing the secondary. His speed was sneaky but his vision was great.
