Aug 21 vs Detroit 9 P.M. EST
Aug 29 Pittsburgh 8 P.M. EST (Nationally Televised, FOX)

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Broncos fans, look to the north.

That is, the AFC North and NFC North -- the two conferences that hold the team's four 2010 preseason opponents.

Denver's preseason schedule was announced Wednesday, and the slate includes two rematches from the 2009 regular season, a nationally televised game and a trip to the NFC's runner-ups on Thursday night to close out the preseason.

The Broncos will kick off the preseason the same way they kicked off the 2009 regular season -- in Cincinnati.

It marks the 13th consecutive year the team has opened its preseason on the road, extending the club record. Denver has played 18 of its last 20 preseason openers away from home since 1990. But that hasn't stopped the team from having success -- the Broncos own a 12-3 record in their last 15 openers.

The Bengals and Broncos have met four times in the preseason, with Denver holding a 3-1 edge. The date of the opening contest has yet to be determined.

The following week the team will head back home to give INVESCO Field at Mile High its first taste of Broncos football in the 2010 campaign. The Detroit Lions will be the opponent, a team the Broncos have faced four times in the preseason. The teams have split the previous games, 2-2. The game will be played on Saturday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m. MDT.

In Week 3 -- on Aug. 29 at 6 p.m. MDT -- the Pittsburgh Steelers will head to Denver for a nationally televised Sunday night game. The rematch of a 2009 Monday Night Football game will be the first time the two teams have met in the preseason. In the regular season, Denver owns a 13-7-1 series lead, and the two teams have split their six postseason matchups, 3-3.

The team will close out the preseason in Minnesota on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 6 p.m. MDT against the Vikings. Preseason finales have been kind to the Broncos in recent years -- the team is 10-1 in its last 11 finales, and Denver has won its last five. The Broncos and Vikings have squared off 11 times in the preseason, with Minnesota holding a 6-5 lead.

The preseason should provide some excitement in addition to a taste of what's to come in the 2010 season. Denver has won at least one preseason game in every year but one -- the club's inaugural 1960 campaign. The team has posted at least a .500 preseason record in 13 of the last 15 seasons, and since 2000, the team's record sits at 27-14.

The regular-season schedule will be released in April.

First time we haven't played Zona since 2001. Matter of fact, that's the only time in the past 10 years we haven't played Zona was 2001.

I see the 3rd preseason game is nationally televised on FOX so that is cool. The game where most of our starters will play will be on natl TV. Nice!!

Steelers as the 3rd game is good - that's always the best preseason game with starters playing - it'll be home against a quality opponent.

Trying to sell my Detroit preseason tickets already!

Do they wear paper sacks on their heads? Just want to know who to offer my extra tickets to without being laughed at.

I can't recall EVER seeing someone with a Lions jersey in Colorado. Maybe down in Co Springs (military types).

I really like this lineup, gives us a great chance to see how we stack up to a variety of talent...the Pittsburgh game will be a good measure

Yeah, I'm pretty bummed the Broncos are not coming down here this year. That sucks. I wanted to watch the Broncos in the Cards new stadium.

We probably aren't playing SF/AZ in the preseason, because we are already playing them in the reg season. You will still be able to watch them on the Cards turf this year.

I like the fact the Lions are coming to town. They are a hungry team who won't be going through the motions on their trip here. I would like to go early for pregame warm ups and see Matthew Stafford throw to Calvin Johnson and Brandon Pettigrew.
