I have a fat aunt that was obsessed with this movie.

She claims to have watched it hundreds of times on video tape.

What a whack job she was/is.

I remember when that movie came out, it was filmed in Australia and the the Aussies have (or had) different rules for the treatment of animals. In essence, some animal lovers were distressed about how the horses were treated in some of the battle scenes. Even though no animals were hurt during the filming of the movie, the animal rights people still wanted to voice their opposition to the movie.

The funny thing is, these same animal rights people didn't care about the big snake that Conan cut up. Wonder why...

I thought this was going to be a thread about the remake. Apparently, they just started shooting the new Conan movie a couple of weeks ago...

http://www.worstpreviews.com/headline.php?id=16513

Now, according to Deadline, (Jason) Momoa won the role after the actor shot a few trial scenes showing off his sword wielding skills. After that, director Marcus Nispel (Pathfinder, Friday the 13th) was sold on Momoa.

Filming is set to begin on March 15th in Bulgaria, which leaves Momoa only a few weeks to bulk up. This obviously means that we'll have a Conan who is half the size of Arnold.

Hollywood is dead. See the above example.

Hollywood is so devoid of originality it's remaking movies that aren't that old to begin with. However, Hollywood will throw in some twist or curve in the next Conan to make the story somehow more compelling or different.

Maybe this time Conan is a vegetarian who fights for animal's rights. He'll probably worship a female goddess and be a pacifist when he's not killing people with mad sword skillzzzz. Only because he has to. It's not like he enjoys violence.
