Default Greatest Bronco plays of all time: #10 Gradishar's long td

On my blog at http://sportsindenver.blogspot.com

Continuing the countdown of my all time greatest bronco plays:

#10 Gradishar's Long TD. Randy Gradishar intercepts a pass from Cleveland's Brian Sipe and runs 93 yards for a touchdown - the longest interception return for a td in Bronco history:

The Broncos were 1-3 going into this game in Cleveland. Trailing 10-6 at the time with the Browns within a few yards of another score, the Gradishar interception turned the game around. The Broncos ended up beating Cleveland this day 19-16. One of the few highlights of an otherwise very ordinary 8-8 1980 season for the Broncos - Red Miller's last as head coach.

Next on my list: More Mile High Magic from another member of the Orange Crush Defense

I'm loving this. Thank you. That was awesome! Not sure if it makes the list of top 12.. and I'm excited to see if it does, but Champs INT return against Dee Brees in 2005 SAVED our season. Especially after Mike Anderson's goal line fumble.

Still sucks that Randy isn't in the HOF. Such a shame.

Great play.

Love to see how players back then celebrated. Nothing crazy, just some head taps, no crazy ridiculous dances.

Thanks. I honestly don't remember that. Gradishar is one of my favorite players. Up next, TJ? Louis Wright?

I remember that. It was an early 11 AM kickoff and I missed the beginning of the game because of Sunday School. Ran inside the house just in time to catch that play.

Great fun. Not every broncos game was televised in LA/OC area back in the day so obscure games with great highlightes were lost on me.

I was in Long Beach fifteen years old biting my fingernails wating for the 10 minute ticker, and then they say, let's go to Bryant Gumble in New York for this NFL'80 update. They showed that play and I went berzerk. Great memories.

Would love to find the 1978 Broncos at Browns game. The only game in NFL history where both teams wore orange pants.

titan, would you make a copy of this 1980 game for me?

Later this same season Brian Sipe made another bonehead throw near the goalline against another AFC West team.

In the 1980 Divisional playoff, Brian Sipe's famous "Red Right 88" Interception to the Raiders Mike Davis cost cleveland a trip to San Diego for the AFC title game.
