dunno - but if I were a player I'd love to play for a dude that gave the job to the best man regardless of cost or appearance. if I can't win the job, then it is no one's fault but my own. Maybe I just value fairness too much

shanahan never really let teh best man win. think about nate webster and jamie winborn starting while woodyard and larsen sat on the bench.

I think Shanahan felt that on offense the caliber of talent didnt exactly matter. it helped if they were immensely talented, but he could make it work with inferior pieces, so he did not always chase top FA talent on offense. This philosophy did not work on defense, which caused Shanahan to reach for questionable character guys, who typically flamed out. Dale Carter and Daryl Gardener are prime examples.

Shanny sure did f up the FA signings when there was a cap. Right at the cap every year for teams that couldn't win an AFC West title. It's pathetic my location has been Not in AFC West Championshipville for 11 of the past 12 years.

What are you talking about?

I think just about every free agent was interested in Denver when Shanny was here.

Who the hell has McDaniels brought in...in terms of big names. I can think of 1 guy...and that's Dawkins. You guys have your heads so far up McD's butt it's amazing to watch!

Immediately after the Cutler trade, many thought the team would not do better than 4-12. The fact McDaniels was able to duplicate the same 8-8 record without the "allworld" talent of Mr. Cutler was a win for him. We had improvement on defense, which none of us predicted. Its a nice start.

You're right...that 6th round Terrell Davis should never have gotten a shot. That Rod smith guy really sucked as well.

Count me as one who thought we'd go at least 10-6. We had the best young offense in football with the best offensive coach in football. All we needed to do was improve the defense.

I give McD credit for doing as well as we did...after trading away Cutler and then trying to run a power running game with a bunch of ZBS oline guys.

But, I don't buy into this crap that he's so wonderful either. He's a 2nd year coach who has done nothing yet. Sure, I'd like to see him succeed, but I'm not going to support every move he makes as though he's mistake proof either.

I like the 3 guys he brought in on the dline, but come on, Bannon, Green and an aging NT are not for sure bets. They could be gone next year...just like the folks Shanny used to sign each year. They all looked good at the time...they didn't turn out so good.

Let's see what they look like on the field. Davis looked like a good signing last year as well. He didn't turn out to be so great...slow and missed alot of tackles. (I do give him credit for providing leadership in the lockeroom and for helping us implement the 3-4) But, he's gone after 1yr.

He was a good signing. Filled a need, upgraded a position, didn't cost a lot. Now the intention is to get even better.

I like the followthrough McD has shown so far in FA. He has said he wanted more size on the lines and so fare his is about halfway done. Results are all that matters but I like the direction he is taking us in.
