Wow I seriously thought this was going to be about the Raiders coach being linked to some bizarre serial killer.

I'd be interested to see what the selection is like and how/if they are able to deliver local channels and news.

Be a real man and build a HTPC.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_theater_PC

Mine was $500, I download blu-ray quality movies, HD TV shows, stream live sports, and play MW2 and Bioshock with better graphics than PS3/360 could ever dream.

How does that work? Do you still have to pay for the cable/satellite or does it pull it in for free?

I assume in that scenario a little piracy might be involved

I have this crazy thing called a personal computer. I even built it myself. It outputs via HDMI right into my HDTV at 1080p. I can download any network's shows via amazon, itunes, netflix. Movies too. That's if I want to pay for the product. Hulu works pretty well for free. The internet goes through it, you see? Plus I can rip DVD's and keep them "on tap" on my 4TB and expanding networked external array... along with all of my music, pictures, and home video. If I could get sunday ticket streamed via the internet at 720p, this computer device would kill my direcTV.

And that's the kicker right there. Until Directv loses its stranglehold on Sunday Ticket, I will never seriously consider these other options.

No doubt.

I wish you could get pay per view games instead of having to buy the whole package, and god forbid you're blacked out because the local team is playing the Broncos.

Also, some of the games have no business being broadcast.

I built an HTPC too and can do all of the above. But I can't stream live sports.

What exactly do you do for live sports? Any suggestions?

So, sort of like Napster in a box?

Who's offering free high quality HD movie downloads?

It takes several hours to download a HD movie on my Apple TV, is there a better way?

But, you can start watching after a few minutes, no?

Any set-top box is going to be reliant on what kind of pipe you have coming into the house.

I'm actually going to convert my old Xbox into a 2TB media machine this spring.

You can listen to the Radio feed and follow along on NFL.com.

That is why like Beantown said, I also will keep the Sunday ticket.

Now I love my DVR on Att-Uverse and since they are providing me 3Mg Internet pipe It is well worth the cost.

I go to the Library for DVD's I haven't paid for a DVD rental in just about 2 years now.
