Default Broncos and Prater agree to deal.

Bring back the kicker

Broncos kicker Matt Prater had his best season as a pro in 2009 and the Broncos made sure he'd be back to kick this year.

Prater, who was an exclusive rights free agent, signed a deal to return to the team. The Broncos turned the contract into the NFL today.

Prater made 30-of-35 field-goal attempts last season and did not miss an extra point.

Definitely a good move...I'm glad we were patient with him, as he is turning into a very good kicker for us!!

Hmm, isn't Prater one of "Shanahan's guys?" And he's coming back? Man, I thought McDaniels was going to gut the roster to just get "his guys." Shocking.

Good news in deed, Prater was the real deal in 2009.

Brought him back so he could trade or cut him. If you just let the guy go through Free Agency, it doesn't make the same statement.

Like it, he was solid last year. I love how some people wanted to cut him in 2008! Have to give them a year or two to learn/improve!

Don't know if he'll ever be as automatic as Elam was but he certainly seems to be gaining confidence in himself.

His confidence in 2008 was shot.
I was looking forward to see how he was going to rebound last year, because to be honest with you, I didn't want him around after his collapse in 2008.
He did a great job for us last year...

Wasn't he a rookie in 2008? Why would you want him out after his rookie season? Sure he missed some kicks but the dude also nailed some long ones and his kickoffs were big. I was hoping he would work on that accuracy and also going into his 2nd year I thought it would help.

I hated Prater's guts through until the NE game when he won me over, lets hope he can keep it up.

He was a rookie in 2007 when he played for Atlanta, -albeit just a couple of games-
He was 1 for 4 in field goals made

I'm Ambivalence with this kicker. I still find myself holding my breath even with 30 yrd FG's. But it could be way worse and I know it.

Good on kickoffs and pretty decent on FG's.

He also had to get used to a new holder during the season.
