Default 6th overall pick

If the Broncos trade Brandon Marshall to the Seattle Seahawks, what would we do with the 6th pick? I am curious what everyone thinks. With our offseason pickups,( which i bleieve will include Jarvis Green and Dwan Edwards). I do not see us taking a DL, not that either of the top 2 would be there. That slot would be a serious reach for a WR. I thought that Eric Berry would be a great move until I started looking at our roster, Brian Dawkins, Renaldo Hill, Darcel Mcbath, David Bruton, and Josh Barret. I do not think we need a safety either. I am thinking and it is just a thought, that we would have to take Jimmy Clausen if he is available. If he is not there, I think we trade down. I do not believe in drafting for needs, I believe you should draft the best available player. I am not sure what we would do with the 6th pick any ideas?

We already did this but oh well.

Option #

1) Trade down
2) Bradford
3) Berry
4) Clausen
5) Trade up (for Suh or McCoy)

I don't really want us to pick a QB so I'm hopeful we could move down. But if we did get #6 and Bradford was there, I think he would have the chance to make more of an impact then Berry. Clausen would be next. We really don't need an OT and the next guy after them would be Bryant and what a waste it would be to use #6 on him, same goes for McClain and Williams. No way at #6.

I am curious about what we would do if people with zero posts would glance the forums on occasion instead of creating redundant topics

We are positioning ourselves to get Tebow before Jacksonville.

If we take Tebow at 6, or 11 for that matter, I will be on suicide watch.

If Marshall is gone, then we need to get some playmakers in here fast. I would trade down from the #6 spot and draft CJ Spiller and Dez Bryant with my two first rounds. The broncos seem to be working on the defense through free agency.

McDaniels has done a nice job rading the Ravens this offseason for DL depth. I just can't see giving Dez Bryant a similar contract to Marshall with the 6th pick. People say they want to move up and get one of the DT's but those guys are going to be really expensive. I seem to remember some issues with Bowlen and finances as part of the reason why we traded pick 14 for this year. The patriot way is to trade back and stay out of crippling contracts to rookies. That's why I don't see us moving up.

We can just let the clock let out and turn in our pick around pick 12 and take the DL we want but at a cheaper price.

After watching last years draft I wouldnt be surprised if McD took an offensive tackle, running back, tight end, Tebow, or a punter.

people speak of trading back as if it's easy...

if we get the #6 pick, i don't see trading back as an option...

so if McD is serious about bpa, then you draft Klaussen if available...if not Berry or Dez...maybe Spiller...

especially this year, with 1st round caliber players in deep into the 2nd round. If we get the 6th pick and trade back, it'll be for picks next year, which I dont think is worth it unless Bowlen doesn't want to pay for (almost) 2 top ten picks

I actually don't like the idea of acquiring the #6. I don't think our needs are best filled there...unless we reach a bit on a bigger RT. I don't love the QB options. We don't need a Safety. Suh and McCoy aren't necessarily 3-4 compatible. And the rest are LTs. I just assume get the #14 so we can grab a Dan Williams, or Mike Iupati, or Rolando McClain after we take Dez Bryant w/ the #11.

You gotta figure these guys are gonna be gone:

Bradford
Suh
McCoy

And that's it. After those three, it's all up for grabs.

Players that could be there:

Bryant
Berry
Okung
Iupati
Spiller
McClain
Clausen

etc... just take your top rated guy. Whoever that is, take him.

No way we are in on Spiller after spending a first on Moreno last year. McDaniels is going to prove that he was right about Moreno and he isn't going to bring in competition for him. If we did move back from 6 it would be for someone who wants to move up and get Berry or Claussen. I think one of those two will be there at 6. We just need to find out who would like to move up and take one of those two. If we can't make a trade...we take Berry at 6 and figure out how to utilize him in the logjam at Safety or we take our QB of the future. At 11 I would take BPA of Dez, Williams, McClain. There are still some moves to be made before the draft and I think our DL situation will get alot more clearer in the next couple of weeks.

IF they get the 6, trade that thing on draft day.

I'd be really surprised if a QB is picked 2-5 because those teams seem relatively set there. Teams 7-10 have issues at QB and they or someone else lower might be amenable to moving up to pick a QB if the Broncos are holding the 6.

The key is if the Rams pick Suh or Bradford. If Bradford is gone at 1, someone will be clamoring for Clausen.

No worries. The Seahawks are too smart. Not gonna happen. The Broncos will not be able to unload Marshall for value this year. He'd have to be at bargain basement pricing before teams would take his act on. So far, he has not had a good roll out..........
