Default Your Favorite Prospects

Here is a thread where you guys can tout some of your favorite prospects in this years draft. This isn't exactly who you think the Broncos will draft, but players you enjoy and feel will be able to contribute immediately, or in the long-term, very successfully in the NFL. Do as many as you'd like, I'll give a few.

1) Jerry Hughes, DE/OLB - TCU

I think Hughes has an outside shot at the first-round for teams looking for him to be a rushbacker in the 3-4. His last two years have been exceptional and he had a great showing at Indianapolis. I know we have Dumervil and potential in Robert Ayers, but somehow I'd like this guy to become a Denver Bronco. I think he is going to be a great player immediately for whoever drafts him.

2) Nate Allen, S - USF

A smart player with exceptional tackling skills and good in coverage. He is a team leader and also has extensive special teams experience. People are talking about Berry, Mays and Thomas, but Allen deserves some mention. In my eyes he's a top fifty pick, and will be a long-term starter at safety for many years to come.

3) Mardy Gilyard, WR - Cincinnati

I can't think of many better playmakers in this draft who have the ability to be a starting wide receiver as well as a consistent contributor in the return game. His story and path to success is a great one and I think he will be a very good player in the NFL. He is more quick than fast, but has solid hands and has been consistent the past few years. I hope he is able to get into a pass happy offense in order to get some good opportunities. For some reason I just see him as an Arizona Cardinal if they end up getting rid of Boldin.

Eric Berry
Dexter McCluster
Jarrett Brown
C.J. Spiller
Mike Iupati

Not necessarily in order, I just like all of those guys. I love the passion that Berry and McCluster play with, both overcoming some size concerns. More so Dexter than Eric on size limitations, but even he was labeled at one point as having to convert to CB at the next level. He added weight though. I love Brown's toolset if he can put it all together. Spiller is a homerun waiting to happen each time he touches it. And Iupati plays with a mean streak, which I love on the line

Blair White? Seems like he's had generally good reviews following his senior season with his performance at the bowl games and his combine numbers. Don't know how he looks on film, but his highlights make him look like a sure handed, tough receiver. He's white, so obviously he's a Wes Welker type

That is a good call. Actually, he reminds me more of Austin Collie in a more balanced offense. White and Shipley look very similar on tape, and White is a much better value. The WR's and CB's in this class seem to be pretty underrated by the net right now. We shall see if that changes between now and April 22.

Chris Brown (OU) as a later round RB. He's got versatile skills and I think could carve out a Kevin Faulk type of role with a team.

What don't you like about Alexander? For some reason when I watch the guy I always think he should be better then he is. Maybe it's all those B12 games I pay attention too Geathers just is intriguing to me. The coaching staff at SC seems to think the world of him and his talent. I would like to see if he could put it together in the NFL.

My list

Blount OU - RB, just very solid runner that I think would excel for ZBS team
Earl Mitchell - DT AZ - very solid DT that just hustles a lot
Mike Johnson - G- ALA - a guy that you can plug into LG and have 10 year career
Devin Ross -CB- AR - a playmaker. He not at Casson level but close
Rick Sapp - De/LB - Clem -playmaker
Rob Gronkowski - AZ- Best TE in the draft and will be impact player in the NFL
Thomas -WR - GT - reminds me of faster Vincent Jackson.

Alexander struggles to get seperation. He could work out at the next level, but I just think he is going to strugggle to get open. He has great height though and might be a solid possession receiver and red Zone Target.

You already had the Geathers discussion with me

Alexander's injuries have me concerned as well, but I agree with what you are saying about him. To be honest with you I think the Bears could use someone like him to try and be a poor man's Marshall for Cutler.

Reading NFL.coms combine report about Geathers seemed to be a exact copy of what you were saying to me about him. Still if some team is going to develop him I hope its us!

Carrington is someone whose stock was soaring a few weeks ago but seems to have died down in the interim. I don't think he was a combine invite, so that might explain some of it. Does he have an overall good showing on gamefilm?

BTW, like the list in many respects gylden. Although, I'm surprised to see Ryan Matthews excluded from your RB list. I think he could be a good complement to Knowshon. Where is he currently being projected? If he's in the late 2nd or 3rd, think he'd be a good pick.

Carrington looks good on film, he plays with a lot of strength but needs more training and a bit more fire in him. Carrington was at the combine, he had 26 reps in bench press but tweaked his ankle while running the 40. He rose a lot during the senior bowl practices.

I don't like Ryan Matthews as a complement to Moreno, I see them as being way too similar. I believe Matthews is a 2nd round pick right now, he will in most likelyhood be the 2nd or 3rd RB drafted.

I don't like Brandon Graham. Way too small. Look at the combine numbers and check his arm length. Not impressive. I think he's a guy who's getting a lot of hype for a great senior bowl but will never be more than just a guy at the next level.
