Default OT: Makers of Modern Warfare 2 escorted out and fired.

This is crazy. The top 2 guys at Infinity Ward, who made Modern Warfare 2, were walked out of their office yesterday by security. Activision is alleging insubordination and possible litigation against them.

MW2 generated over 1B in cash in 2009 - that puts it right alongside Avatar.

On a different note, Battlefield Bad Company 2 hits the shelves today. Go Battlefield!

Crazy!
Wish my PC could run BC2, but I doubt it. It runs MW2 fine on high. Need to get real, still running 3700+ and 1950GT, which was boobies like 5 years ago lol.

I like MW2. Not as good as I was expecting it to be, but still a good game. I need to look into BattleField 2. I'm hearing good things about it. Also FFXIII coming out next week. Already got it reserved.

Never played it but if they did that well with one game, I don't think they'll be looking for work long.

Sounds like they were developing something on the side and Activision got wind of it, hence "insubordination." They probably got caught, got fired, and now Activision wants to see if any of their secrets have been stolen, or something along those lines...

Yeah plenty of glitches in the game, still fun to play but the fun will wear off at some point.

I played the Bad Company demo, cool game.

The only serious problem I have with MW2 is the lack of dedicated servers - that would fix a lot of things.

I agree with this...I don't know what drawbacks there are as far as dedicated servers go, but it would seem like a great idea.

Can anyone enlighten me?

And PS, NICE JOB SONY! Don't know if anyone heard about the bug, but it was fixed in about 2 days. THATS customer service! kudos

OMG that needs to be the 1st thing they do. I am sick of waiting 20minutes to find a match when playing with 6-9 friends. Also the lag is stupid, sick of sneaking up on people shooting them, then stabbing them, just to have them turn around and stab me.

"Hilife, Also FFXIII coming out next week. Already got it reserved."
Have you heard much about it? friend was telling me that they took out the cities/freeroaming part of it and no customizing weapons/stores. Just a straight through game and can buy stuff at each save point. Have to let me know how it is, i was stoked for it, but not if they take all the RPG parts away from it.

One of two things happened.

A. IW heads increased in their godlike complexes and kept burning bridges with Activision because how could they get fired after a $1 billion hit.

B. Activision was being cheap and doing some shady **** that the IW heads didn't stand for, so they got the axe for being insubordinate.

I wouldn't be surprised by either based on what I know about the dudes fired and Activision. They both can piss off imo.

Don't be shocked to see a new studio start up in a few months with these ex-IF'ers heading it up. Wouldn't be amazed if they signed with EA either.

Sony didn't "fix" ****. It absolved itself after a 24 hour period. It just assumed it was a leap year so it went bonkers on the February 29th that didn't exist. After it passed everything went back to normal.

As for dedicated servers. It gives users direct control over player limits, custom maps, custom modes, mods, etc, etc. CoD4 had a much higher player limit on PC than MW2.

It was just Infinity Ward and Activision being ****ing idiots, and now EA switched Bad Company 2 over to PC (the first BC wasn't on PC) to soak up the alienated playerbase.

I like it, definately not as good as Uncharted 2 but still good. I wish the killstreaks was toned down a bit! I get sick of the constant chopper gunners, harriers, and care packages.

From how I understand it the conversation basically went like this:

Bobby Kotick (CEO, Activision Blizzard): "Yo, you guys gonna get MW3 out for next Christmas, RIGHT!?"

IW Project Leads: "Um, **** no Bobby. We're making a new IP, it might be out by late 2011 at the soonest. DEAL WITH IT."

Kotick: "No, you will make MW3."

IW PLs: "Suck our *****, we're your golden goose."

Kotick: "**** YOU MOTHER****ERS!"

End scene.
