Default Solid GM Xanders Interview-Evaluating the Draft Prospects

Great interview on the insite of what the Broncos are looking for and how Denver is evaluating these prospects and Free Agecny players. Xanders and McDaniels def. have a system in place in what they are looking for in certain positions. I like what I am hearing, hopefully we can get some great players in this deep draft.

I like that in a GM.

i like what i heard. no more of the drafting a guy solely because he plays a position of need, but rather going through an arduous process of identifying guys who not only are good players who fit into our scheme, but are also guys with a lot of character.

Nice interview, I'd like to see Patrick Smyth making Xanders, Pat Bowlen and Joe Ellis a bit more visible to the media. It would help take some pressure off Josh McDaniels as the "end-all-be-all" of the Broncos.

The camera angle wasn't either, I couldn't see the full scope of all those hand and arm gesticulations. It was a bit too much, doesn't seem he has a ton of experience public speaking which is odd for a GM. Should make sure you don't have a cup of cofee in your hands when he is close by speaking to you.

ha ha. I was being sarcastic. He sounds like that nerd in class afraid of speaking publicly. I thought I heard his voice crack a few times. I'm surprised Josh let him go to Indy.

Maybe it was Xanders who let Josh come to Indy?

What a retarded comment. Your disdain for the organization has driven you to where you re-invent reality to your view. His voice didn't crack even once, but I'm sure a week from now you'll be telling people he was crying during the interview and holding his blanky.

He sounded like a guy who was trying to explain a big, year long process in a few words. I thought it was very telling and the good news is that they don't make any huge u-turns on players based on the combine and just use it as a tool to clarify someone's ability. This as opposed to Al Davis who uses a stop watch to evaluate all his talent. I like that are building their board all year long and have guys for next year ready to track too.

Couldn't agree more Kaylore.

He was explaining things in-depth. Seemed a little excited, but he gave some great answers. Thought it was interesting how he said after 19 interviews the other night, six or seven guys they interviewed might not be considered for them after the process. I'm glad they take the stance of attacking "issues" they have with players and see how they respond in regards to correcting them, etc. Very cool.

Retard isn't a PC comment. Why don't you call me a gay instead?

ANYWAYS, I don't have disdain for the franchise, I could careless for the way the people are running it. Does that make me a bad fan? Eh, whatever. Looks like your fan dick is bigger than mine. Wanna a cookie?

Whatever the approach is, I hope they have more than 60 names on the draft board this year. They gave the middle finger to the rest of the NFL and their approach last year, only to retort and whine they didn't have enough time.

I don't see why the board size matters. They evaluate a lot of players and cut down from there. It makes perfect sense for a team to make it as small and compact as possible. Yes, you evaluate 300+ players, but then through the process you narrow it down to those who you severely have interest in and then go from there.

I'd rather have a board with a comprehensive overview of 60+ players than a board of 300 some guys with marginal reports and knowledge on each of them.

Denver isn't the only team that does this either.

Agreed completely with REQ.
Great Post. I want them to have that list of guys they REALLY want. not a list of every single name and where they rank... I'm sure there are numerous guys that the broncs aren't interested in all due to character concerns, etc.

I don't know about everybody else, but I am seriously STOKED about FA and the draft to see what the front office can do. I have all of the belief in the world that they WILL do a great job!

Go Broncos!

I like Xanders.

And if he helps bring in winners, I like him even more.

This draft is full of good players.

If we dont come out with some winners this year, it aint gonna look good for those in charge.

I'd hate it....many good Guards/Tackles/LB's there....I am hoping Dan Williams is the first round pick. A little high but he is worth it.
