Default Hanson sues Raiders' coach and team

Former Oakland Raiders defensive assistant Randy Hanson, who was allegedly assaulted by coach Tom Cable last August, filed a civil lawsuit against both Cable and the team on Tuesday in Alameda County.

Hanson's lawsuit contains three causes of action -- assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

The suit claims the physical altercation with Cable left Hanson with a fractured jaw and broken teeth. The suit also alleges that Cable threatened Hanson by saying repeatedly, "I'll ... kill you."

The Raiders are aware of the lawsuit but would not comment Tuesday. Cable was not criminally charged in the matter.

Hanson returned to work with the Raiders last December, in their personnel department. Cable reportedly has been retained as Oakland's head coach, although the Raiders' have yet to make an official announcement on his future.

Last October, Napa County district attorney Gary Lieberstein said he would not pursue charges against Cable, citing inconsistencies in Hanson's story that were not corroborated by the three assistant coaches in the room at the time.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
