Default Think you know Ted Cruz? Maybe think again ....

If you're like me, the images above pretty much sum up Ted Cruz. A fool without a clue, an idealogue without an idea. A man whose IQ and EQ together total less than Gomer Pyle's IQ alone.

And it's true, Cruz seems to mis-read the prevailing winds at every turn, irritating and amusing friends and foes alike .... a kind of Drama Queen not to be taken seriously in 2016.

HOWEVER ... if you're even more like me, you'll be shocked and awed at Ted Cruz' resume. For real, every word:

  • 1988 - Class Valedictorian, Second Baptist HS, Houston
  • 1992 - B.A. cum laude, Political Science, Woodrow Wilson School of Public Policy, Princeton Univ.
  • . . . . . . Captained Princeton Debate team to semi-finals at World University Championships
  • . . . . . . Won National Top Speaker Award as member of Princeton Whig Society Debate Team
  • 1995 - Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, Harvard Law School
  • . . . . . . John M. Olin Fellow in Law and Economics
  • . . . . . . Executive Editor of Harvard Law Review
  • . . . . . . Founded Harvard Latino Law Review
  • . . . . . . Prof. Alan Dershowitz later recalled: “Cruz was simply off-the-charts brilliant.”
  • 1995 - Clerked for U.S. Court of Appeals judge Michael Luttig
  • 1996-97 -Clerked for United States Chief Justice William H. Rehnquist
  • 1997 - Lead counsel to Rep. John Boehner in lawsuit vs. Rep. Jim McDermott re: recorded phone call
  • 1998 - Prepped testimony as part of legal team working to impeach President Clinton
  • 1999-00 -Domestic Policy Advisor and counsel to Bush-Cheney campaign.
  • 2000 - Senior counsel on Bush v. Gore legal team
  • . . . . . . Recruited John Roberts to the team
  • . . . . . . Devised strategy and drafted pleadings for lead counsel Ted Olson.

A sublime Masterpiece ... a resume sure to open any door anywhere anytime. Reads like a what's-what of major events of the right-wing, Boehner (before he was Boehner), Clintom impeachment, Bush-Cheney 2000, Bush v. Gore. I'll skip the professional credits, they're equally right wing witha Texas flair, and only slightly less impressive.

It's the equal or nearly that of anybody in Congress - can't compare to Bill Clinton's to be sure - but it is a click or two more impressive than those of Obama, Hillary, Kerry, all Obama cabinet members.

I learned of his bizarre, maddeningly counter-intuitive history about a year ago. Still can't believe it,. Just thought everyone should know.

Clerking for the Chief Justice of the United States ...?

Just to be clear, that is without a doubt the #1 plum award to be had by a law school grad. ANY law school grad. The least legally-inclined law school grad would trip all over himself to take it. ARI GOLD would leap at the chance to make Hollywood wait a year to take that spot. Of which there are three, only two of which rotate.

Yo!

Long time no see, Kemosabe.

Scary thing about Cruz is that he's not exceptional or some sort of special case - he's pretty much representative of today's GOP (read: ignorant, uninformed, clueless, bigoted and fervently radical.)

I keep hearing his name come up as if he was going to run for President. Funny his birth certificate says he was born in Canada with a Cuban father and actually did not set foot in U.S. until the age of four.

Where are the BIRTHERS??

He's definitely all that .... but you don't seem surprised at all this, really? Took me at least a week to accept it wasn't a far-flung right-wing conspiracy to class up Gomer a bit.

He has academics down, but as we should already know, a resume is no indication of future performance.

Now if he could only get his 'crazy' under control and not end up as a male Michele Bachmann.

In other words, since he's a Latino republican, questioning his intelligence is safe to do and not deemed racism by the PC police.

I consider Cruz one of the most dangerous people in the U.S. today. Very smart and sociopathically ambitious. He's just waiting for the cards to fall in the right direction for his rise to the top. Reminds me of Joe McCarthy.

You're the only one bringing up his Latino heritage.

I appreciate how the opening poster thoroughly sourced his statements there.

Up next: GOP names Tony Soprano to head the FBI.

Climate Change-Denying Ted Cruz Will Oversee NASA. What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

So, Ted Cruz (R-Texas) was just named to be the Chair of the Subcommittee on Space, Science, and Competitiveness as Republicans take over the Senate.

You/re welcome. Indeed, sourcing is important, which is why I wrote:
"If you're like ME, then you think these images sum up Ted Cruz."
He's p'd-off several factions of his own party ... the disastrous near-Government Shutdown that he alone orchestrated, that (predictably) blew up in their faces; terrible Jindal-esque SOTU response couple years ago, frequent denials of requests to campaign for fellow Tea-Partiers, and general drama-queen behavior (please, that needs no sourcing).

And he made a fool outta me ... looks like I'm the only one shocked by the reality of his world-class resume. I thought him to be of Bachman-Gohmert-Palin lineage, even believed somebody had posted a fraudulent Wiki page.

But still, I showed respect: The original "Defund Obama-care or the Idiot GETS IT!" image depicted Cruz naked with liquor nearby. I added the shirt and tie out of respect. Again, you're welcome

You should see the response he had to this SOTU address.
