Default OT-Sleep Aids

Alright. I can't sleep without a fan going. I dont know if its the air moving or the hum it makes, but recently I had a kickass fan die on me, and it took a couple of days for me to go get a new one. I slept maybe 5 hours in 2 days. Anyone else have something they need before they can get some sleep?

No ****, lol.

I like to have a fan on... or you can just take a valium or ambien - that **** will knock you out.

Or, if you're the legal type, and don't want a prescription, Sominex helps, too.

Best are: OTC Tylenol PM, Rx Ambien/Zolpidem.

Ambien is especially good ... a quick, reliable deep sleep, and the side effect of waking without any hangover of any kind. In fact, for me it works almost like an alarm clock. Seven hours after I take 10 mg, I'm awake.

The 5 mg though, that cam be a problem because you're awake after 3 1/2, 4 hours.

A bottle of Jack works pretty well, not that waking up is a lot of fun though.

Two to three Mellodyn does the trick and is safe and doesn't leave a hangover

I've tried just about everything from natural stuff, to over the counter to Rx.

I will say that working out does help no matter what you want to try.

I didn't find that any of the natural stuff works if you have bad insomnia, only if you have a mild case of it.

Even Sominex and Tylenol PM don't work that well if you are really having bad insomnia.

About the best over the counter stuff I have tried is Unisom.

But the best Rx stuff without a doubt is Lunesta. Way way way better then Ambien. I have absolutely NO side affects with Lunesta. Puts me right to sleep in about 20 minutes and I sleep until my alarm goes off, of after 6 to 8 hours if I just wake up naturally. No dry mouth, no dizzy feeling or light head. Just ready to go. And that was cutting the smallest dose (3MG) in half. That made my 30 pills into 60.

Melatonin. If I don't take it, I'll work through the night until I crash in the morning and be useless the next day. But when I take it, I sleep like a baby. Speaking of which...

I have to sleep with a fan on, I'm too light of a sleeper and some noise will wake me if I didn't have it on (aka the neighbor's dog barking every damn morning). If I need a little extra help on the sleep side, I usually take an allergy pill - Allegra I think, I'm onto the generic now. That'll knock you on your ass better than any sleeping pill

Radio (some sound) + lorazepam.

Been an insomniac since I can remember and unless the conditions are perfect I don't sleep for $3it...

I use lorazepam too. Working nights I needed something that will put me out for 4 or 5 hours on my first day back to work. It does the trick.

And definitely don't take any type of Tylenol with alcohol. Acetaminophen can cause liver damage when mixed. Not a doctor, just what I was told...

I'm a crappy sleeper so I take the generic Benedryl for diphenhydramine. I also try not to eat much sugar/starches after 7 and no caffiene after 4.

Exercise and not drinking help too...so I've heard...

Sleep Aids? That sounds like a terrible disease!
