2000 posts in one thread was enough, time for a new one.
Gotta come up big this weekend, ISU is improving from week-to-week. Men's basketball tips off this Friday too. |

CU plays BB at DU on 11/27. I'm not much of a basketball fan, but some friends and I have tickets right behind the CU bench. DU has nice facility and tickets are very reasonable.

We SHOULD be good enough to win the remaining 2 games on our schedule, but I won´t take anything for granted and remember the last time Nebraska played a heavily favored Colorado squad at Folsom. A bowl is what I wanted before the season and I am delighted we are in a good position to make that happen. Go Buffs! |

Good news on Darrell Scott.
http://www.buffzone.com/news/2007/no...lback-recruit/ CU has advantage in luring top tailback recruit Scott By Kyle Ringo (Contact) Sunday, November 4, 2007 Photo Gallery Colorado vs Missouri Football University of Colorado played the University of Missouri at Folsom Field. ![]() Enlarge photos | View thumbnails The best news Saturday for the Colorado football program came from one of its recruits. Darrell Scott, the No. 1-ranked tailback recruit in the nation, visited Saturday from California and didn't immediately run for the airport after watching Missouri soundly defeat the Buffs 55-10. In fact, Scott acknowledged CU is solidly in the lead to earn his signature on national signing day in the first week of February. A family tie is working to CU's advantage. Scott's uncle is CU true freshman wide receiver Josh Smith. The two played on the same team a year ago and Scott said he would like to be reunited with Smith. "Family comes first," Scott said. "It is a big deal. It's weird cause I really do want to play with him. Colorado has an advantage over everybody else with that." Scott said CU coaches told him he will have a good chance at earning the starting job at CU as a true freshman next season if chooses to play in Boulder. He said coaches have emphasized that he will have to work for that job. "I'm willing to work for anything," he said. Scott has four more official visits to make and said he might wait until signing day to announce his decision. He said he also could make a decision at the Army All-American game in January. He said he plans to visit Louisiana State and Florida for sure and will schedule two more visits in the near future. Scott was also impressed with Missouri on Saturday and referred to the Tigers as "a team of giants." Overall, Scott said he was impressed with Colorado, despite the way the Buffs played. "I'm coming in with an open mind, trying to see how this university is and I like it so far," Scott said. "They had a tough game, but it comes with the territory. They're a rebuilding program. They're trying to get back to where they were in 1990." http://www.timescall.com/sports_story.asp?id=4439 CU impresses prized recruit By Patrick Ridgell Longmont Times-Call BOULDER — Colorado’s 55-10 loss to Missouri on Saturday night was not a pretty sight for Buffs fans. But if it’s any solace, the nation’s No. 1 running back recruit was at Folsom Field, and he said he was impressed with CU’s program. Darrell Scott, a 6-foot 200-pounder from Ventura, Calif., was one of the recruits making a visit to CU on Saturday night. Scott is ranked as the best prep running back in the nation by Scout.com and Rivals.com, and he’s the nephew of CU receiver Josh Smith. “It’s a program that’s rebuilding itself,” Scott said about CU. “They need the key guys on offense to get things going, because the defense held strong at the beginning. They just need some play makers.” Scott said he’ll take visits to LSU, Florida and Texas, and will decide in January after he’s made them all. Asked if he wants to come to Colorado, Scott said: “I like it a lot. I like the coaching staff, the academics, the facilities. The locker room is amazing.” Scott said he played a video game in CU’s locker room on Saturday. Scott said his uncle is “letting me do my own thing” when it comes to the recruitment, but added, “He said I wouldn’t look bad in gold and black.” Scott said he would like to attend college with Smith. “That’s a major part,” Scott said. “I want to continue playing with him. We’ll see where it leads me.” As for why the Buffs lost so badly, Scott credited Missouri. “That team was ready,” he said. “They have some weapons. Everybody was huge. It was a team of giants.” |

Well, here we are. Fresh start and a fresh thread. We're playing for 2008 starting this week IMO. The Buffs need to turn away everything negative that has happened with their young squad this season and turn it into a positive campaign for the '08 season.
It starts this week in Ames. So GO BUFFS and lets get this new thread off with a win! By the way, for those who have cable, you are the only ones who are gonna be lucky enough to see the ISU vs CU game. Blah

I have to admit, this is rediculous. How many blocks has our line missed this year with all of our youth playing? How many drops has Cody had? Yet he has stuck in the game and put us in position to beat KU who is what, #6 in the BCS? And he beat OU.
Come on. RED SHIRT FRESHMAN! We are also recruiting a QB already this year. |

Does he remind you of Jake Plummer at all? I realize he's just 19, but his strengths and weaknesses seem to mirror Jake ... shaky in the pocket, but good on the run. Effiicient passer, but can't throw deep. Heady, excitable gamer, but ultimately ?? |

Nice fresh thread, but I'm gonna still post in both ... there's a competition for thread length with the Cornhuskers, and I'm not gonna cut and run!

Do tell. Because unless you know something Scouts doesn't, then we're actually not.
Here's all the QBs listed as even mildly interested prospects, from 4-star through 2-star. Even Jack Elway is listed, even though as Pain pointed out never even conmsidered CU. So the list is pretty comprehensive. And don't let 2-star Tyler Hanson get you too excited - CU was the only offer he had, other than Idaho State. And the two 3-stars listed here who haven't commited anywhere yet (green stars)? Well there's a reason they haven't commited yet - none have ANY scholarship offers, even from CU! Well, Schmitke has one offer: Idaho State. What's going on? We went from runner-up to Oklahoma for Landry Jones ... all the way down to battling Idaho State for quarterbacks?! Sheesh. And our roster is already seriously lacking there ... after Nelson leaves next year, we're down to two: Cody and his Idaho buddy Matt Ballenger. Plus Hansen, whom we wrested from Idaho State. Something's gotta happen soon. ![]() http://colorado.scout.com/a.z?s=148&...pid=10&yr=2008 Last edited by BroncoBuff; 11-06-2007 at 05:25 AM.. |

Can I ask a question. Did we ever sign Patrick Gates HB and Devan Johnson FB last year. It's just that neither are on the current Buffs roster

P.T. Gates needed more credits before he could enroll, I believe Johnson is grayshirting, both should be on campus in the spring.
and BB, please subscribe to Scout or Rivals. Simply looking at interest and number of stars doesn't come close to telling the full story. |

My point is - and it's not a dead horse, Mr. Head-in-the-Sand - is that we have ZERO offers out for uncommitted high school QBs. ZERO. That's just a fact, and facts are stubborn things. The only "dead horse" is Pain's ranting that Jack Elway never considered CU. That's true of course, but his name is right there on the list - just like I said. If you guys have some inside information, please share. Otherwise, argue with Scouts, not me ![]() Last edited by BroncoBuff; 11-06-2007 at 01:59 PM.. |

Why should we give you inside info?
and they're only taking 1 QB this year so there's no need to go after others. Give it a rest, they're only taking 18 this year and they're up to 10 already. |

How many did we bring in last year Herc and at this point who are the frontrunners to replace Charles/Dizon and Wheatley. 3 of our best players.

PT Gates will be with the team next season ... CU has a committment from Ray Polk and has a good chance to get Darrell Scott, the highest rated RB in the country.

Jens already hit on the RBs, they'll be deep and pretty talented no matter what Scott does. Wheatley, probably Burney becoming the #1 and anyone but Cha'pelle would be my choice for the #2, he's just too short. Dizon- Sipili, Burton, and Major among others. They might be losing Dizon, but it'll be a better unit overall next year. |

As Jens mentioned the RB position should be covered with Gates and Polk coming in to go along with B. Lockridge, Sumler, and Moyd. Dizon is irreplaceable in my opinion. He's a once every 10 years type LB. That said, if the Buffs can get Michael Sipili and Marcus Burton back from suspension, they will help to fill the void left by Dizon. Jon Major, the top rated player in CO and one of the top LBs in the country committed to CU 10 days ago, to go along with teo other 2008 recruits and Brad Jones, Jeff Smart Tyler Ahles and Jake Duren. Same deal with Wheatley. He's one of the best corners CU has ever had. Ben Burney (son of broncos coach Jacob Burney) has played well at time this year, but is not Wheatley's caliber. There are a bunch of young guys already on the roster that need to step and take over the other CB position next year. The coaches really like the CBs they got in the 2007 class, but the 2008 class is light on CBs at this point. edit.....Herc beat me to it |

Where do you think Dizon and Wheatley will go in the draft?
