Redskins interviewing Romanowski for strength coach job

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...gth-coach-job/

Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on February 9, 2010 2:17 PM ET
Bill Romanowski once lobbied to replace Mike Shanahan in Denver. Now he might join Shanahan's staff in Washington.

Jay Glazer reports that Romanowski is interviewing in Washington to be the team's strength and conditioning coach. Seriously.

There are a ton of jokes that could be made here, but we'll leave them to the commenters.

Instead, we wonder if the league will have an opinion on the hiring of an admitted steroid user and pill enthusiast for a job that puts him in charge of the conditioning of an entire NFL team.

Relax!

Shanahan ran him through an extensive lie detector screening.

While I don't agree with his past PED use, I doubt there is anybody that has learned to take better care of his body or could help future athletes take care of theirs.

His mold fits exactly with what i've loved from previous strength coaches in my past. Smart, tough, and intense.

I don't see the issue with this. I could see how apologists would though. They'll try and deflect from McD's having his kid brother potentially telling Donovon McNabb how to play his position next season...

"no, no, no MCNABB!!! When I was coaching JV kids two years ago, we taught them to throw it like THIS!"

truthfully i don't think the league can say anything. for all the supplements that he used in his career, he was never once suspended or caught taking anything illegal. he was also one of the most well conditioned players on our roster during his time in Denver.

Wasn't he going around a few years ago trying to catch on as a strength coach? I remember something about it and his powerpoint presentation. You can't deny that that dude knew how to stay in shape. He'd probably make a fine LB coach too.

This was in response to Shanahan's potential hiring of this guy.

Hypocritical don't you think since McKid hired his McBrother to teach NFL Qb's how to run an offense just two years removed from high school football? Honestly, I think Romo is probably ready for this type of job and will thrive with it.

Obviously the push he made a couple of years ago impressed Shanahan with his thoroughness, hence why he's getting another opportunity. Some people just want to write that off that he isn't hiring quality people, just people he knows. It couldn't be more false in this situation.

I think Romo would make a good assistant as long as he can manage his anger or use it to his advantage.
