Numerous teams calling about McNabb

Donovan McNabb(notes) appears to be a very popular man these days. Plenty of teams have apparently called the Philadelphia Eagles to find out if he is available, according to the Philadelphia Daily News. Teams have also asked about backup Kevin Kolb(notes) and three teams have asked about Michael Vick(notes).

Three of the teams that are asking about McNabb are supposedly the Denver Broncos, Buffalo Bills, and Cleveland Browns. Of course, most, if not all, of these calls are totally exploratory at this point as teams start to feel out all the others to see what's going to be available this offseason.

Eagles head coach Andy Reid is sticking to his story that McNabb will be the starter next season, the last one on the QB's contract. Still, it is hard to believe all three of these quarterbacks will be with the team when things get rolling next year.

Wow, that's an uncommonly juicy bit of insider info, I wonder how much truth there is to it? Sure don't get leaks like that out of the Denver FO.

I do not want McNabb on this team. I don't know why everyone is so in love with the guy. I know he has made plays in the past and has been to the playoffs many times and to the Super Bowl once, but the guy is getting older. The price we'd need to pay in draft picks, players and compensation to get McNabb in Denver and situated would counter everything we need to do as a team, which is stock our roster with young playmakers and have a few veterans to fill in the gaps and lead by example...McNabb's upside is not greater than the cost it would take to bring him in.

I can see going with McNabb if they're serious about finding a QBotF and having him hold the clipboard for a year or two. McNabb wouldn't be my choice if I was taking a "Make a desperate push for a super bowl win before the lockout" stance. I think he's a solid qb, probably a good leader, but a bit of a playoff choker. I'm not in love with the idea, but I wouldn't throw myself in front of a train.

If by 'not the best fit for our offense' you mean he can move out of the pocket, doesn't go down when a DE sneezes on him and can throw the ball accurately beyond 15 yards, then yes, you are absolutely correct.

McNabb is probably the worst QB to ever run the 2 minute offense. I don't think of him as that much of an upgrade over Orton - he is an upgrade, but not much of one and certainly I wouldn't give up a 2nd or 3rd round pick for him. If he can be had for a 5th? Sure why not have a QB controversy for that

Mcnabb does suck at the 2 min offense, but the other 56 minutes of the game, he is pretty damn good. I would give up a 3rd for McNabb, but we all know that won't happen.

He is a total upgrade over Orton. He is mobile, has a good arm, usually has pretty good accuracy, and makes good decisions. It's no coincidence that the Eagles have been as good as they have been over the last decade.
