It would be cool if Lawrence Taylor was the best defensive player ever but he isn't so why the **** is he on that list?

I like how Otto Graham is on this list, but he wasn't on their list of best QBs ever, which was like twenty deep. I stopped ranking QBs when I got to 3 and couldn't find Graham.

Reggie White had 21 sacks in 12 games. I would take him over coke head any Sunday.

and stuff like this is why Espn can suck a bag of Di#ks ...
Taylor was to me over rated and benefited a lot from a scheme that was ahead of it's time in N.Y. ... I'd rather have Singletary ... |

ESPN is the equivalent to the retarded kid whose mother makes the school or city league sports put her kid on the field. he is there, and he tries hard, but at the end of the day, he has no idea what the hell he is doing
with that in mind, who gives a damn what they think? |

I would strongly disagree, Taylor was a very dominant player, overated he was not.

Over-rated nope, but the best defensive player ever he is not. I can't speak about players like Deacon Jones I never seen him play, but Reggie White was a much better player then Taylor. I watched those two play.

Maybe it's a faulty perception, but I don't remember Reggie White being feared the way LT was. I don't know if LT is the best defensive player in history, but he was certainly one of the most intimidating ones.

The fact they put L.A. on that list should disqualify them from ever opining on anything again.

Never underestimate the power of drug abuse lol. White was just such a good guy on and off the field it would be hard for him to intimidate. White failed to reach double digit sack number just three years out of the fifteen years he played and one of those years was with the Panthers after he came back from being retired for a year. His 21 sacks in the 1987 season is beyond impressive. He was getting damn near 2 sacks a game that season. He might not have been as feared as Taylor but he was more dominate on the field.

I think the problem is ESPN is such a force that they shape public perception, particularly for those that weren't there to watch these players.

Here - HOF voters incompetency put to good use: Simple fact is Elway WENT to 5 Super Bowls - his HoF supporting cast equalled - ONE player in ONE Super Bowl. Best ALL TIME statistic ever - from the best player EVER.

Stats is one reason. ESPN etc forget Elway carried Denver by himself most of his career. Can you imagine Peyton Brady Montana playing in Denver in the 80's lol.
