Well it was never official that the Broncos offered him the DC job. A lot of putting two-and-two together, but to say he was offered the job - right now - would be speculation. Even if he was, at his age with his health how could you argue against a position job coaching Ray Lewis and Terrell Suggs?

Good...I wasnt too keen on the idea of having a coach named a synonym for "urinates".

Our loss is their gain.

This is a rather big shame imo.

Wink was good with the LB's would have been nice to keep him with them and get an experienced DC with a good track record with us.

well it is probably easier for someone that has any health or family concern to back out of a gig like that if he has to than a full DC job

it could just be that he was trying to think of his employer, rather than it being a "oh I don't want to coach in Denver" thing

That's what I was thinking, with the health concerns and all. He pretty much took a pay cut and demotion - something he doesn't need to do with his track record.

I dont see what the big deal is. Why do we need a DC anyway? Josh was mentored by arguably the greatest DC ever.

Well, maybe not - if he wasn't offered the DC job. IF he was offered that job, the Ravens job would be more appealing because of:

1) Money - I doubt the Ravens offered more money to be a LB coach than Denver would to be a DC but I suppose it's possible.

2) The Role - At his age and with his health conditions prehaps being a position coach with a stable defense was more appealing at this point.

3) Wanting nothing to do with the Denver Broncos - Now this would be bad, really bad. If a guy McDaniels worked with in NE, wanted to be a DC and was offered this job and only turned it down because of a fear to stay as far away as possible - we're in such bad shape I can't even put it into words. Guys are interviewing for the Raiders Head Coaching job but don't want to take over a top-10 defense? If McD's reputation around the league is that bad, we're in bad, bad shape.

Well if he didn't want to be a DC why not give him our LBs coaching job after we promote our guy?

Did you know that in over 30 years of coaching, Dean Pees has never coached with anyone that's on the Baltimore staff currently? That's remarkably rare.

However, he was a coordinator in NE the entire time Josh was. Also, Pees spent years coordinating and mentoring under Saban... just like Josh was.

This situation gets more amusing every week.

Maybe they just didn't get on when they worked together?

I know the norm is for people to be really good friends with absolutely everyone they work with, but there are exceptions.

Hmmm... If Pees wasn't in fact being considered/offered for the Broncos job, then I wonder what it is we're waiting for.

The only thing that worries me about having Martindale is the fact the players want him in as DC, and we all know how that worked out last time...

Looking for a LBs coach to replace Martindale when he becomes DC?

That and maybe he wasn't offered the job in Denver.

Nah, that doesn't fit in with the "McPoopyPants is evil" agenda.
