Why? By all accounts, he was a good DB coach. He just wasn't a good DC.

Very true about Slowik...that's a good hire as a position coach, only...although Burney is crap as a DL coach.

I agree Slowick was a good DB coach, and the players did love him. Burney on the other hand......

watch out Washington Def Coord, Slowik has come to teach DBs and undermine DCs.

Burney is the worst DL coach in the world, a medium sized pile of horse dung would be better.

Color me a little skeptical of Slowick as a position coach as well. i used to think he was a good one, Champ had great years with him. Then I thought for a moment, it's been documented that they let Champ play his own unique style of coverage essentially. Champ would be Champ without Slowick. How many attempts at having a solid #2 corner accross from Champ did Denver fail on? He might be okay still, but I'm more skeptical than i used to be.

Burney is pure crap though

Burney = Bad Dline coach... but maybe he is better as a 3-4 line coach

Slowick = Good DB coach, HORRIBLE D Coordinator

Slowik was an awesome hire (great DB coach - but he better not be anything else). Burney though... yeah... could have done much better. Wasn't the former Giants DL coach out there or was he picked up already?

Both are 4-3 D-line coaches. Maybe Burney was at camp Shanahan learning the 3-4 with him.

It was said because he was the DB coach during Champs best year. That year was one of the best ever CB performances. We also had a couple of young guys show promise under him. I think it was Slowic, but may have been someone else, that Champ said used to make computer graphics that really helped the defensive players see what they were supposed to be doing.

Obviously Shanny didn't know about the computer graphics since he doesn't even know how to use email. McD would have this covered though because he knows all about spacebook.

I'm pretty sure the theme of this thread is that at least one of the hires is a bad one...

Anyways, what guy did McDaniels bring in and get **** on?

We should absolutely trade for the Redskins 1st rounder next year, between their QB situation and Burney messing up Orakpo and Haynesworth they will be drafting in the top 5.

Jacob Burney was first hired by Bill Belichick in 1994, then hired by George Seifert The guy was hired by 3 HOF coaches what do they see in the guy?
