January 18, 2010 - The AFP reports Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez called videogames "poison" during his weekly radio-TV show "Alo Presidente."

"Those games they call 'PlayStation' are poison," Chavez said. "Some games teach you to kill. They once put my face on a game, 'you've got to find Chavez to kill him.'"

The game Chavez is referring to is Mercenaries 2: World in Flames, which his supporters attacked back in 2006 due to its depictions of the South American country being invaded by military forces. Chavez, however, was never featured in the game.

He would continue on saying any game where players "bomb cities or just throw bombs" are sold by capitalist countries looking to "promote the need for cigarettes, drugs and alcohol so they can sell them."

This past October, Venezuelan lawmakers passed a law banning the sale of "bellicose" videogames that is punishable up to five years in prison.

It's true, I have a very unhealthy attitude towards dragons now. Just the other day I clutched my wallet tightly when I walked past one.

So how's that different from typical South American politics...?

I want a game that teaches you to become a socialist dictator. That would be awesome.

Try this. Communism or monarchy works the best if you are going to be a war monger. Democracy is a pain in the ass because the populace is always hassling you. Just like in real life.

What's wrong with playing GTA other than teaching you to kill?

You do not want to live in my America then, I would imprison people for looking at me or smelling funny or even suspicion of looking at me or smelling funny - and I would make video games mandatory.

I did. In Civ 4 however you can mix and match governent types. You can have a police state with freedom of speech or a communist government with a free market economy. Makes warmaking alot easier. Right now I am playing a game where I am wedged between the Aztecs and Mongols (both are ridiculously aggressive, btw) and have been at war with one of them at least 3x each. Tough row to hoe.

Seriously. Ironically, the city of Denver sits on the only source of horses on the entire continent. It sits on a 3 way border with the Aztecs and Mongols and me. That city has been conquered twice, once by the Aztecs, once by the Mongols...pisses me off to no end. ****ing mongols...I still want to know why in this game a stack of tanks can lose to a stack of calvary?
