saw this on a Ravens forum. thought it was a good question, so i'll repeat it here. if Mt. Rushmore were for QBs instead of ex-presidents, who would be your 4 QBs faces on it. for me, #1 & #2 would be Unitas and Elway. not sure who would be #3 or #4. Bart Starr? Bradshaw? Favre? Marino? Kelly? i've never thought much of Montana as a QB personally, so he's not on my list. you can use what ever criteria you want.
#1 Unitas #2 Elway #3 ? #4 ? |

![]() 1. John Elway - there has never been another player in the history of the NFL whose team could be down two TD's and the other sideline still whispered his name. ![]() 2. Peyton Manning - this guy revolutionized the position. For most of his career he has been the best player in the NFL. ![]() 3. Tom Brady - The guy is a winner and has been his entire career. ![]() 4. Joe Montana - Was Tom Brady before Tom Brady. |

i hate to say it, but Manning is probably in the discussion now for being one of the top 5 to ever play the position. it doesn't hurt that he played in an era where the defense couldn't even look cross-eyed at a receiver without getting a penalty, but he's put up some impressive numbers. i think Tarkenton is often forgotten in these discussions, be he's in the mix, along with Otto Graham and Sammy Baugh.

Bradshaw has got to be on my list, now that i think about it. he's won 4 superbowls. it's not always about TDs and yardage. winning the big games has to count too... my Mt. Rushmore would look like this i guess. can't decide on #4 though.
#1 Unitas #2 Elway #3 Bradshaw #4 Manning/Favre an even harder question is who would be on the list if we were talking about RBs instead of QBs. TD of course, and i've always been a fan of Earl Campbell. he doiminated the game in his first 4 years in the league.Last edited by Gort; 01-17-2010 at 06:27 PM.. |

The 80's and early 90's were cruel to all but a few elite NFC teams, so I don't place much stock in SB wins.

I like this one,
You have to add Unitas though. Personally I would go: Unitas Elway Graham Starr Starr gets the 4th seed because he was the 1st Montana and Brady type QB. Plus he was a better athelete than they were/are. |

i just can't put guys like Bradshaw, Montana or Brady on the list of 4. these guys get more recognition than they rightfully should simply due to playing on teams any QB could win a super bowl with.
you put Elway on those 49ers teams in the 80s and Elway would probably be home polishing 5 rings. the teams around those 3 were built to win regardless of who was under center. with that in mind my Mt Rushmore would be ELWAY i don't care what the stats say, he is the greatest to ever strap on a helmet Marino granted the guy never won a super bowl, one of the greatest to ever play Favre his position the last few years had fallen off, but this season has brought him back to his place amongst the greats Manning the undisputed best in the league right now. the guy revolutionized the position and will retire with every QB record |

Not only is Peyton on it, he's probably number one on my list and, my guess, is he'll be number one on most people's when his career is over. The guy is simply amazing, no matter who the players are around him, he makes them all all-stars. He calls his own plays, rarely makes wrong decisions, wins a ton, and has incredible stats to back up the argument.
