New Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has hired Alex Gibbs to join the team as an assistant head coach, according to sources.New Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll has hired Alex Gibbs to join the team as an assistant head coach, according to sources.Gibbs would oversee Seattle's offensive line zone run-block system that will be compatible with the scheme that will be coordinated by Jeremy Bates, the sources said.

Gibbs has been serving that current position with the Houston Texans, but sources say he embraced an opportunity from the Seahawks and accepted their offer to join the staff. Gibbs is among the most reputable line coaches in NFL history.

Didn't Mora still run the ZBS? So he's not bringing it, but continuing it?

Shanny must have gone tanning with Alex Gibbs wife, they don't seem to like each other. I cant believe he's not packing his bags for Washington. Maybe he's trying to build his legacy by turning every program he touches into a running backs dream.

Beats me. I have no idea what blocking scheme the Seahawks ran. But nothing that is happening in Seattle right now could be considered a continuation. They hit the reset button on the whole franchise. They cleaned out everyone and everything (from a coaching perspective) and are starting from brick one.

I've heard that there's some bad blood there surrounding what happened with the firing of his son, David Gibbs.

All these Broncos assistants in demand. You'd think the team was badass or something.

Shanny & The Skins also lost Mike Zimmer ,Zimm re-up'd with the Bengals today for three more years.

Alex Gibbs, while a great coach that helped this franchise more than any Asst. Coach ever did, Gibbs is mentally unstable.

Thats why he was a good coach...the players were scared of him.

*Taco*

That definitely explains the situation, thanks.

Is there an Oline coach who isn't?

Allen is a geek. If he's switching to a new OS, it will definitely be Linux.

Why trade Kuper? He's 6-4 300 (with room to grow) he's needed more than a 2nd round pick.

During the SB years, I remember one game where Dierdorf continually replayed a shot from behind the o-line on a standard pass protect play. All 5 Bronco linemen took exactly the same 4-5 steps after the snap. Same foot moving each step. Same amount of distance in their steps...everything identical.

Incredible the way they were synced. They had it down to an art form. Truly a single entity.

Alex Gibbs and Bobb McKittrick are\were true gurus.

Then it didn't matter if Gilbert Brown outweighed two Bronco linemen. They got the job done with technique. Now it seems like we need a Dallas type line to compete. Much harder to find those guys. Especially with all the other needs on this team.

I wonder if Walter Jones will stick around for this change of scenery? He's 35, after all.

He is on record last week as saying he wants to come back...but he would understand if the Hawks want to move in a different direction.

Thats the first thing that the Seahags will address in the draft is offensive line. Gibbs will definitely get his toys. If Norm Chow does indeed go and coach with Pete Carroll I could see this being a good move for that franchise.

Gibbs has the magic touch if you're going to run the zone, obviously.

That said, does anyone in this year's playoff bracket run the ZBS?

Nevermind, that works too though he had a lot of promise. I just hope they give him the tools. Hasselback wont survive another season behind that crapy O-line.
