Blizzard Dumps Snow on Copenhagen as Leaders Battle Warming

By Christian Wienberg

Dec. 17 (Bloomberg) -- World leaders flying into Copenhagen today to discuss a solution to global warming will first face freezing weather as a blizzard dumped 10 centimeters (4 inches) of snow on the Danish capital overnight.

“Temperatures will stay low at least the next three days,” Henning Gisseloe, an official at Denmark’s Meteorological Institute, said today by telephone, forecasting more snow in coming days. “There’s a good chance of a white Christmas.”

Delegates from 193 countries have been in Copenhagen since Dec. 7 to discuss how to fund global greenhouse gas emission cuts. U.S. President Barack Obama will arrive before the summit is scheduled to end tomorrow.

Denmark has a maritime climate and milder winters than its Scandinavian neighbors. It hasn’t had a white Christmas for 14 years, under the DMI’s definition, and only had seven last century. Temperatures today fell as low as minus 4 Celsius (25 Fahrenheit).

DMI defines a white Christmas as 90 percent of the country being covered by at least 2 centimeters of snow on the afternoon of Dec. 24.

They should do their part and turn off the heating for the duration of the conference.

But, but, global warming causes snow to fall. And rain. And no rain. And no snow. And wind. And to be cold. And to be hot. And....

All storms are generated by energy (i.e. heat) imbalances -- add more energy to the system and you get more and bigger energy imbalances -- which generates more frequent and more severe storms.

Weather/Climate 101 buddy, I suggest you learn it before you try to be funny.

Fed and Gaff, the point is that this is slightly funny and not meant to take away from the issue but rather to lampoon it. Thus by making lite of something it furthers it's actual relevence. EX: Every US President since Washington has been lampooned in political cartoons, satire and today on Saturday night live. Lighten up a bit and smile more you'll enjoy life better

I do enjoy the irony of the situation and the OP, but barryr was not replying in jest, he (and his ignorance) are serious.

Classic!! Hope it buries their dumb asses inside their gloabal warming debate. Who says the good Lord doesn't have a sense of humor?? Love the idiots still defending this theory and Al Gore to the end, the planet will freeze over and someone will still be talking about the science behind it all and how those who disbelieve are idiots.

Pretty funny.

We're currently having the coldest December on record here in Texas.

Bunch of snow here in colorado already ( and it's not even officially winter yet) only problem we have is to many freaking people are moving here too many houses being built and its straining the water supply.

I'm from Victoria TX originally and my in-laws enjoyed the snow last week and tried to brag. I then reminded them that I live in North Dakota and that snow no longer impresses me...it opresses me

It would be pretty ironic if they weren't only wrong, but then those really fringe scientists who claim we are actually heading into an ice age end up being right.

global cooling blamed on global warming. Jobs created job saved.

Gore and his buddies would find some crazy way to tax the hell out of that too. If the globe is warming religion is proven false these knuckleheads gotta find something else to believe and worry about.
