Default The Stratoshield: a practical low-cost way to reverse global warming

There exists an engineering design that provides a means of delivering enough sulfur dioxide to the stratosphere on a continuous basis to effectively cool the Earth. The estimated cost of building and implementing this technology is a few hundred million dollars.

Great. Let's layer another experiment on top of the climate system, in addition to the one we're already running.

How will this correct the acidification of the oceans?

Are we willing to live with the decline in precipitation that follows injections of sulfate aerosols? Can we maintain this for centuries? Who's gonna pay? Who's gonna pay when it messes up the climate even more than it already is?

Geo-engineering requires more faith in climate models than even climate modelers have.

Have to agree....too many unintended consquences, when people start playing God...

A friend of mine has about 30,000 tires on his 150 acre tract of land -- I have a theory, that if we light it on fire it will help cool the earth....

When will people stop with these hairbrained ideas, dumping millions of tons of aerosols is not a good solution, that is like curing depression with large amounts of cocaine, sure the person might liven up a bit and not seem so glum but curing one evil by perpetrating another is just idiotic.

Don't worry a couple volcanoes can do that for you.

The thing is though it leads to more acid rain which is really worst then higher temps. It's the acidification of the ocean that has me more worried then the temp rise, or the sea level rise.

If a volcano does it fine, but I can't support pumping gasses into the air. We just need to roll with the Earth's changes, we can't control them.

What would be funny is we spend trillions to stop co2, to control warming, then some huge volcano blocks out the sun partially for a couple yrs and it gets so cold people start to worry about that.

If anything humans love irony, I could see it happening.

God what idiocy!

CO2 isn't a poison just because the EPA is bought out by the globalists.

Try beathing sulfer dioxide.

Better yet, let's dinosaur partray!

Cutt is dead on with this. Oceanic PH acidity is allready killing the oceans.

Gore is an idiot, only concerned in creating a new derivatives market to trade climate credits.

Judging by that volcano in the Phillipines, we might be getting a nice little infusion of sulphur dioxide into the atmosphere whether we want it or not.

maybe, but reducing carbon emissions ain't gonna happen in the rapidly growing industrialization of the lesser developed parts of the world. These are the places with rapidly growing populations too. We will be forced to play God sooner or later. Prolly later, after the politicians milk us for trillions a year for a few decades.

If C02 is poison, over-population becomes a central issue, and in turn government can create more justification to tell us how to live, what to eat, how many children to have etc.

Its almost always about power and money, with new crises that can be used to justify imediate action.

Wow, a volcano erupting in the ocean, and we have numerous volcanoes in the oceans that have erupted without people even knowing it, but nah, that couldn't be a cause of the temps in the oceans to change. Makes too much sense.

probably not temps but for sure co2 and sulpher which could change the oceans chemistry.

Of course you are right and I brought it up in another thread but was roundly discredited.

Our planted has what a 3000 mile ridge of volcanoes and plate tectonics under both oceans creating new sea floor. They really IMO have no idea what amount of increase or decrease that activity is undergoing over last 20-30 yrs and into the future etc.

My personal view is that this global warming thing started when they ended the chain gangs and stopped them from breaking rocks in the hot sun all day long. This shut off a valuable carbon dioxide sink in the carbon cycle.

Sheriff Joe in Arizona is doing his part for globaly warming.

And somehow Gore will still be eating steak, when these rules and taxes are put into place for the common man, but not those above law.

Mother earth is a replacement for God (in terms of creating the moral authority to enslave the masses.) We have a crisis (they claim) -- we have to act NOW to save her -- if you stand in the way, you are a flat earther, and part of the problem -- if you even question the concensus your about as stupid as those who think we never landed on the moon --- etc, etc. Never let a good crisis [real or imagined] go to waste...is the motto for collectivist change. Those that dont see it, and simular to those little myopic men before the coming of every tyranny, in every age -- who act too late, and assume only good can come of growing government power, and dismiss weakening democratic processes. They dismiss because they are in the political majority, they think they belong to a club, but they dont, and wont see that until later. Maybe they will see it when a radical right wing pres gets power (they inherited) and he uses it unconstitutionally (even more than Bush did.) I pray the Tea Party minded folks stand up then too -- but I am not sure they will see it either. But you see how it works? Right pres, left pres -- it does not matter if they do the same things, and steal Liberties either way -- all we wind up with is a slightly different flavor dictator, but still oppressive governments - either way.

With most, all Big Brother has to do to usurp, is change a lable, a slogan, a uniform, or a flag around, and they will fall right in line AND ASSIST in their own enslavement every time.
