Default Matt Cassel was the Smoking Gun

Matt Cassel was the smoking gun in the deterioration of the Broncos’ relationship with quarterback Jay Cutler that eventually led to Cutler being traded out of Denver.

Tuesday, at his press conference, McDaniels talked about facing Cassel. Here are some highlights:

“Matt is a very talented player. Obviously, last year the experience that he gained in playing a full season is invaluable to any player. Certainly in his development, I'm sure that meant a lot. He's very bright, mobile, athletic, a big kid and he is a good leader. I know that just from being around him for four years and having the opportunity to coach him. I'm sure you can see the way the team responds to him in Kansas City and the way he plays. He always plays very hard. He's always going to be ready to go and he does a lot for their team and their offense.”

“It's going to be a little bit different defending him rather than being on the other side of it which I've been on in the last four years here. Difficult preparation, can do things with his legs, can beat you with his arm and his legs which is unique to a few quarterbacks in this league and he certainly is one of them.”

“He got what he deserved in terms of having an opportunity to go to another franchise and be the starting quarterback. And it's a well deserved opportunity.”

So will McDaniel's have his number all day and be able to read body language and is this a huge advantage?

I guess the system a QB plays in really makes a difference.

That is as likely to happen as much as Brandon going to the Patriots!

But then again....Never say Never!

If McD could choose btwn Cassel or Orton would he choose?

Can McD talk Bowlen into giving up 2 first round picks to KC to bring Cassel to Denver! Boy imagine how the MANE would absolutely go nuts!

The numbers say Dumervil should have a career day on Sunday.

QB Matt Cassel is sacked a lot. Through 10 games as the starter, Cassel has been sacked 35 times. Last season, Cassel was the most sacked quarterback in the NFL in 15 starts.

I was at the NE game last season. LAST year's Broncos had 6 sacks against Cassel. That was half the season total.

McDaniels did choose between Orton and Cassel...or did you miss the last 8 months?

But not if you have a rocket arm, right? I mean that should overcome all.

No doubt, man. I'm truly convinced that some of these guys have gotten so used to the fact that they are so wrong, so often and pretty much universally disliked and disrespected that the only thing they have left is to troll for trolling's sake to get the attention they need.

Clearly, 90% of Rasta's post fall into that category. Why anybody bothered posting in his "Cutler Matures!!!!" thread is beyond me. Clear as day that he just gets his kicks from stirring **** up.

McD had no other choice but to chose Orton! What planet have you been living on....O'Brite One?

Remember dufuss, origninally McD didn't entertain interest for trading Cutler for Orton (Are You Smoking Crack?).......McD wanted Cassel more than he wanted Cutler and Orton.

Whatever Rasta/lex/jhns/BF7/Bob......you're pretty much all the same person at this point.

At least posters like Blue & Socal have the dignity to quietly slip away after being proven wrong time and time again. It's way more dignified than turning yourself into a cartoon character. Enjoy the rest of your posting career here at the 'Mane.

Cassel was had for a 2nd round pick and Mike Vrable. If McDaniels wanted Cassel badly enough, it would have happened.

Reality. Learn it, live it.
