Sweet.
Dumervil needed to show up big tonight, and he did. That's exactly what you need from your impact players. We need another impact front 7 guy to emerge. Maybe it'll be Ayers, or maybe we'll sign/draft more help next year. But, we've got a damned solid core to build around. |

At the risk of an idiot getting all trollish for being agreed with.... Popps is right on the money! lol! I think DJ Williams is an impact player but we could sure use another guy that ios as dominant as Doom!
And yes the core of the Front 7 is solid! |

2 more sacks and Dumervil will tie Simon Fletcher's single season team record of 16 sacks.
We are going to have to pay him like the top 3-4 OLBs in the game are currently being paid. See what James Harrison and DeMarcus Ware are being paid and we will be in the ball park....probably a little less than those guys....but not much less. In the 3-4....the pass rushing OLBs are the ones that make the big bucks. Sacks = cash Dumervil deserves to get paid....he is the consummate team player....plays hard every down, makes plays, never complains, and he stays out of trouble. Not one peep or complaint out of him about getting a new deal. 56 games played and 40 career sacks. 14 sacks in 11 games in his first year at 3-4 OLB. He deserves to get paid at the end of the season....the longer we wait, the more money he will command. |

Ayers continued to show really positive signs tonight. Drew one of the biggest holds you'll ever see... I thought he played well really.

Does the sack count when he forced the Eli fumble?

I'm almost cringing now when he's the one making a sack now. Almost wishing it was someone else on the line. I hope we can afford him come contract time. I really don't want us to let him go. I hope we pay him to stay.

Dumervil has clearly got some pride having played with a chip on his shoulder due to the height thing, soI have a good feeling that he's not the kind of guy who would suddenly drop off in production once he got paid. He's also shown that he can make plays when it counts like all the great players do, which means that even if he never matches this season's output again he'll still be a major asset. All reasons why I'm comfortable with the idea of giving him a big-money contract. He's worth it.

Great player.
Great person. I don't care what it takes -- they need to pay the man, so he can retire a Bronco. I love me some Dumervil. |

Doom=must sign, have to sign, god please don't let him go
Kuper= I'd really like to see him stay, good solid football player Marshall= I really want him to stay, but if we got some high picks I could live with him leaving. Wow though he is a special player, but unpredictable. Still the are all just RFA right? Not easy to sign those guys. |

Doom is just so low as he comes around the edge it's like trying to block the crown of his helmet. There is just nowhere for the olineman to grab or push. It's almost funny sometimes because you just imagine how frustrating it must be to try and get down to his level when you are 6-3 6-4 6-5 etc etc. He's like an OOMPA LOOMPA from hell. |

Doom should be our #1 signing priority in the off-season, and we should lock him up for as long as possible. The rest of the front 7 are solid role players that would be relatively easy to replace (save, maybe DJ). Doom is a special sort of player, and not a playa. You can't replace him.

I loved the last sack he had on Manning, he took Diehl to school on that one, that was 100% pure pass rush ability against the LT no less - that is what great pass rushers do.

Doom really benefits from the scheme, he'd be a fool to leave it. That having been said that one play where Vonnie Holliday took up 3 O-lineman and allowed DJ to com in free on Eli was sweet.

Elvis (and Marshall) may want to at least test FA. He won't be UFA right away, but at some point he may want to play in a different town. Players like Elvis and Marshall will certainly have some customers unless Denver really makes a super-sweet long-term offer.

Elvis must stay in the house! He is a great football player. We really need to re-sign Marshall. That guy is a beast! His catches last night were outstanding.

Did you just call popps a troll? Dude you have made yourself way to comfortable around here, you might do a search on your name and see who we think the troll around here is. Here let me save you some time, it's you.

As I have stated many times, I have no doubt the Broncos are not done working on improving the front seven and the DL in particular. It usually takes more than one offseason to get all the kind of players you want, especially when you inherit such a mess. Keeping Dumervil is obviously an important thing to do and getting a couple more DL than can make more plays would be great. Hopefully Ayers keeps developing and be another pass rusher or else getting another one is important too.

Question is will Bowlen open up his wallet to keep both Dumerville and Marshall?
