Why do you say that? Guy is injury prone, can't avoid the rush, and is leading the Broncos O to it's worst statistical year in decades

For the rest of the year, if he can walk he must play.

I'm amazed with how good Orton looks considering he obviously isn't 100% and hasn't taken a single practice snap all week.

Facts hurt.

I know you weren't shy about waving your little pom poms when the broncos rode the defense and a few lucky bounces to a 6-0 start, but now that reality is setting in and the offense looks as crappy as many of us said it would, do you have anything to say that actually makes any sense or are you going to go on believing that everything that happened in the offseason was smart

He's a smart, tough guy, easy to root for. Good enough to get you to the playoffs when the OL is giving him 6 secs per dropback, defense is dealing and the receivers can turn small routes into big gains.

He is not nor never will be a championship QB though unfortunately

I don't know how anyone could disagree. It's not like there's anyone behind him to push for the starting role. It's not like we're going to dump him at the end of the season. He's our quarterback for the forseeable future. I have a hard time imagining a scenario where he's not our quarterback for at least the next two seasons.

Agreed. He just needs to retire and go into coaching with his buddy in Houston.

Definitely for the next 2 years. He is the caretaker, nothing more.

If McDaniels really likes one of the QB's next year in the draft, I can see him spending our first round pick on him.

Orton can be tagged as a RFA and kept for very cheap to be the QB next year, giving the rookie a year to learn on the bench.

I like Orton, but his ceiling is low.

Taking a couple steps back for a bit does a world of good. I've done it multiple times and am kinda doing the same right now.

I don't know about 2 years. My preference is to draft Jake Locker in the first round next year (it would be easier if we still had that other pick). Orton is easy to root for and a fighter and competitor, but still has substandard talent. Locker has a ton of talent and I think Josh could work wonders with him. Obviously, Orton will and should probably stil be here next year as the caretaker or transition guy to the next QB, but I can't agree that he should be our QB for the forseeable future. He's just a bridge to someone else.

We're going to give Orton a contract at the end of the year that will probably be a 5 or 6 year deal and probably a $10 million signing bonus. Two years is an absolute minimum estimate. Three years is more probable.

We'll make him a RFA I'd guess.

Cheaper, and we can see another year out of him before having to make a decision on him long term.

Ive been here the whole time dude. No sense in talking about the QB when the team is rolling, but now that the facts have surfaced, it's not too early to begin talking about it.

I admit that I like Orton more than I thought I would, but he isn't the answer, and I've never been a fan of the dink/dunkathon.

I've never been sold on Orton, and still am not. He is serviceable. That's it. Just because he is better than a truly awful Simms, doesn't make him a good QB. He is.. ok. He has not had a single play this year... not one.. where I went "holy crap!" He had a couple nice deep passes, but of course, the receivers had absolutely no one on them. He can't scramble, he is hurt, he is.. average. Why anyone would want to bank our future on this guy boggles the mind..

I have NO idea what's up with our defense. What a turnaround of the worst kind.

Wow. People proclaiming Orton the quarterback of the future on a day that we don't score even a single touchdown?

How ****ing stupid do you have to be?

This was a wretched performance by this team. Neither quarterback did anything to earn themselves a paycheck today. Orton proved Chicago's point - that he plays like crap when injured - and Simms proved why no one other then McDaniel's was willing to take a chance on him.

Let's face it. Right now unless something drastically changes, our season is over, with yet another missed post-season. You might as well root for the Rockies and nuggets, because they are the only team that consistently wins.

Before Jeremy Clarkson jumps in, I think that's unfair to the Fiesta. We traded in the Mustang for one of them economical Japanese cars and were sold a Prius, but all we got was a rusted decrepit Geo Metro. Useless, Soulless, and boring.
