so he lost a step, I still want him back there over most corners in the league. He needs to restructure for next year though. I dont know if we can afford him at what he makes.

He made Santonio Holmes look really good, didn't he? Roethlisberger made some good throws and some good plays, Champ was on the wrong end of a few of them. Champ's best days are well behind him but he's still very good. Hopefully this will be his worst effort of the season.

none of the above.....

he was lost

pre-snap, champ and law looked lost and it seemed like they were waiting on Dawkins to tell them where to line up on almost every play.

there where several times champ was lined up at safety and Dawkins moved down to the LOS and then dawkins was forced to play corner.

I thought Champ did a decent job keeping his man in front and making the tackle.

The Steelers' passing game is like a perpetual broken play which makes it hard to stay with the receivers when they're all over the place trying to get open.

Holmes did a good job of not letting on the ball was coming on that one pass though.

That was probably the most disappointing to me about the game. I mean, Orton is what he is. He's serviceable and fine and well when the team around him plays well.

BUT, Champ is Champ. I was really surprised to see him have a bad night. Like the OP said, don't know if it is actual decline or a bad night or just an extremely good job by the Steelers, but last night was Champ's single worst game as a Bronco that I can remember. Numerous passes completed to his side, which is obviously a departure from what we normally see, and then to add insult to injury, Ward had that hurdle for the TD. Champ is normally such a good tackler!

I think/hope that it was just an off night for Champ and that it's not a sign of actual decline. He's played so well otherwise this year that it's hard to use one night to throw 7 other good ones out.

He certainly didn't do himself any favors with the ProBowl voters last night.

Holmes was 6 for 6 against Champ. It was more than a couple balls. Champ got beat all over the field. You can't ignore that. He simply played horrid last night.

You beat CHamp you beat our D atleast for '09. Pitts basically took Haggan, A Davis and Doom off the field for 1st and 2nd down with their 3 and 4 WR sets. Not every team can do that but all the playoff teams can.

Hopefully Nolan will have an answer but Brady, Manning and Big Ben look like they can beat our D. Our O is non competive right now.

Does not bode well for post season

Champ was beaten every which way. On the first drive of the second half, they exploited his cushion by completing a skinny post (I think it was on 3rd down). Then on the subsequent drive they beat him over the top and every other way. It was an embarrassing display for someone who makes that much money.

Probably the worst game I've seen Champ play as a Bronco....Holmes, I believe, caught every targeted throw while Champ was covering him.

I heard from someone that was at the game and they thought Champ was playing hurt. That the trainers keep trying to look at him when he was on the sidelines and he kept waving them off.

Every year I hear about how Champ has lost a step, and every year he's still one of the best cornerbacks in the league (if not THE best).

Big Ben had all night to throw on most plays and CB's are on an island. You give a QB a lot of time to throw, most QBs will pick us apart.

Champ's not restructuring. He is going to get paid more, that's where his value is in this league.

I agree I just don't see Denver with all our issues paying him more but, I could be wrong.

Good post, but I'll hold my water for the postseason. Anything can happen once you make the postseason.

You are out of your mind, there is no way he gets paid more next season. The guy is not who he was when given the huge contract years ago.

Champ had a rough game. He's human.

He's probably a little pissed off that his ex has squandered his MILLIONS.

http://www.denverpost.com/pennyparker/ci_13735367

During the good days roughly four years ago, Broncos star cornerback Champ Bailey and then-wife Hanady Bailey bought a $3.5 million six-bedroom, 11-bath, 11,000-plus-square-foot mansion in Cherry Hills Farm.

They had two children together — a son who is now a third-grader and a daughter who is a toddler. But about three years ago, the marriage ended in divorce.

According to Chuck Brega, Champ's lawyer, Hanady ended up with a generous financial settlement — the house was free and clear — plus child support. Hanady's lawyer, Steven Cook, declined to comment, and records from the divorce have been sealed in Arapahoe County Court.

Now the house, which is solely in Hanady's name, has hit the financial skids and is in foreclosure with a $1.45 million unpaid mortgage that, according to property records, Hanady took out alone in her own name last December. Also according to Arapahoe County documents, not a single payment has been made on the new mortgage.

continued..........

Honestly, gimme 7 seconds to run around and I can get open on Champ. We had absolutely no pressure in the second half. That's the problem...
