Default Quick Question (OT, sorry but I need an answer)

What is an acceptable time to start drinking (alcohol) on any given day?

Depends on how late you wake up.

Nothing wrong with a lunch beer to take the edge off the afternoon!

I've started at breakfast once or twice. Acceptable? I'd say depends on the situation but I think noon would be the standard.

a beer will cure a hangover... so I would say the minute you wake up and crawl out of the tub.

The best answer I have received so far is "What time do you wake up?"

My wife has not accepted that as an acceptable answer though.

Im looking specifically for a time.

In general, my rule is once 12:00 noon strikes I am allowed to drink until I go to bed. She thinks I need to wait until 4:00 pm. Which, IMO, is far too late. Normally I dont start until later, but if Im restricted to 4:00 pm every single day, that ruins a great many days of football.

I was serious with 10 AM....afterall, if that's the time the bars open up, then it must be the acceptable starting time to indulge if you wish to do so.

That's how I see it anyways

How about 4pm unless its a football game or a special occasion. Then its noon

Seriously, that's "acceptable" I would think.

It's all about your choice of alcohol as it pertains to social acceptance.

10:00am - 2:00pm - Hair of the Dog/Brunch (Bloody Marys or Mimosas)
2:00pm - 6:00pm - Afternoon Delight/Lunch (Beer)
6:00 -7:00 - Happy Hour (Mixed Cocktails)
7:00-9:00 - Dinner (Wine or Beer depending on the meal)
9:00 - Sleep - Night Cap (Any kind of whiskey straight.)

These are steadfats social norms and cannot be argued against.

In general, whenever one feels like sipping an adult beverage, they should feel free to do so regardless of what the clock says (presuming that circumstances at that given time do not make the decision inappropriate... for example, drinking a beer immediately before attending church might not be a wise choice).

Right, it won't get you nearly buzzed enough, shots are required for something like church.

Take it from me. Anyone who drinks earlier than 2 pm is a lush.

There are two types of drinks.

Beer.

Whiskey.

Everything else is for pussies.

And this attitude is exactly why you will continue to run into problems drinking when you want to. It's all about learning to work the system.

No, the wife gig is permanent.

We need to agree on an acceptable time so I can tell me wife its OK. She will go along with it as long as I have proof from people she doesnt know are alcoholics (like my friend Dayna who gave the aforementioned classic response).

Im leaning towards Hogan's 10 AM but personally Im not done drinking coffee at 10 AM so that might be a bit early but I'd like to have some leeway.
