The FCC has little control of content on cable networks. That's why they can say ****, ****, **********, mother****er, etc. on cable but you can't say it on network TV. That's why most HBO shows that get to syndication are shrunk from an hour to 45 minutes.
But, then, Obama's government thinks there is nothing that should be beyond government control so it doesn't mean they won't try. |

Dude, this is Obama's communist lackey comrade we're discussing. Neither Bush, Bozell or Fox put this guy up for the job.
All I'm saying is that the FCC doesn't regulate cable and satellite the way it regulates broadcast which is why the likes of Howard Stern fled to Sirius. I'm sure they'd *like* to control whats on cable and satellite, and maybe when Obama nationalizes them, they will. Hugo Chavez is writing the blueprint for them down in Venezuela but here we still have this nasty thing called the first amendment for the libs to try to override. |

This is what the "Czar" actually said and it was over 4 years ago.
"There is nothing more difficult than this, because we have really, truly good white people in important positions. And the fact of the matter is that there are a limited number of those positions. And unless we are conscious of the need to have more people of color, gays, other people in those positions we will not change the problem. We're in a position where you have to say who is going to step down so someone else can have power." |

where-as a show in syndication needs to run commercials and so needs to cut out parts of a show to fit the commercials in. It's all censorship. |

The moment the government tries to control the media is the moment we should all be very, very scared.
Nothing good can come of government contolled media. If this is the first step then God help us All. |

Very well put but sadly some obama/dems nutswingers are clueless and support anything and everything and they wont figure it out until it's too late re: rastaman. He posted a stupid thread supporting media diversity and didn't have a clue what really was the main motivation rastaman and other like him need to be shaken and slapped until they wake the **** up and pull their heads out of there asses.

Seriously what do you have against companies? All jobs in America, all of them, are generated by companies. Including government jobs. Governments live off of confiscations, either directly from the people or from companies.
Some companies are big and powerful but none of them are so big and powerful they can really control anything. Our antitrust laws prevent this and so now does the fast pace of technical and economic progress in the world. There are 17 new members of the 30 Dow Jones Industrials since the start of the 90's. Only one company, GE, still remains, from original 12. If they are the ones maintaining power and control in this country they don't seem to be doing a good job of keeping their power. Our government when looked at as a company is by far the biggest on earth with more employees and revenue (and certainly more costs) than any company on earth by a factor of 10. It has the most influence and ability to corrupt the fairness of the systems that dictate the economy than any oligarchy that exists in the free market a hundred times over. Inherent mistrust of the government is a good thing due simply to the immense power it wields. |

In principle, absolutely nothing.
I'm pro-capitalism (which thrives on competition) and anti-corporatism (which uses entrenched power to eliminate competition and inevitably leads to monopolies.) Hope that clears things up. |

Typical right-wing straw man argument:
If I object to the following, then I must be "anti-business." Study says most corporations pay no U.S. income taxes http://www.reuters.com/article/newsO...49465620080812 Most firms pay no income taxes - Congress Study finds that the majority of domestic and foreign corporations in the United States avoid paying federal income taxes. http://money.cnn.com/2008/08/12/news...rporate_taxes/ |

![]() That's one of the most egregious right-wing canards of all time. Just the opposite proved to be true during GeeDubya's eight-year watch. Those corporations who received the big tax cuts under Bush didn't create new jobs - they just pocketed the money and shipped jobs overseas. Bush presided over the first net job loss since Hoover (his historical twin.) ![]() |
