Default Zogby/Fox News: "Good White People"

A question from the survey they are having Zogby carry out for them.

http://www.olearyreport.com/media/pd...ort-102609.pdf

Quote:
4. Federal Communications Commission Chief Diversity Czar Mark Lloyd wants the FCC to force good white people in positions of power in the broadcast industry to step down to make room for more African-Americans and gays to fill those positions. Do you agree or disagree that this presents a threat to free speech?

The FCC has little control of content on cable networks. That's why they can say ****, ****, **********, mother****er, etc. on cable but you can't say it on network TV. That's why most HBO shows that get to syndication are shrunk from an hour to 45 minutes.

But, then, Obama's government thinks there is nothing that should be beyond government control so it doesn't mean they won't try.

It's awesome that Brent Bozell's largely Republican backed PTC & MRC can lead a war to censor television (including cable) and somehow you find a way to blame Obama. This is what ''family values'' donations bought people like you in the 80's and 90's, and what liberals like me have worked hard against.

Also, the question is a Repubilcan propaganda lie, hence why Fox had it asked.

Dude, this is Obama's communist lackey comrade we're discussing. Neither Bush, Bozell or Fox put this guy up for the job.

All I'm saying is that the FCC doesn't regulate cable and satellite the way it regulates broadcast which is why the likes of Howard Stern fled to Sirius. I'm sure they'd *like* to control whats on cable and satellite, and maybe when Obama nationalizes them, they will. Hugo Chavez is writing the blueprint for them down in Venezuela but here we still have this nasty thing called the first amendment for the libs to try to override.

Is this for real? Or just a question being posed? If it is real this guy needs to step down yesterday. The guy would literally being saynig that skin color should be a qualification for a job position. Which is illegal.

This is what the "Czar" actually said and it was over 4 years ago.

"There is nothing more difficult than this, because we have really, truly good white people in important positions. And the fact of the matter is that there are a limited number of those positions. And unless we are conscious of the need to have more people of color, gays, other people in those positions we will not change the problem.

We're in a position where you have to say who is going to step down so someone else can have power."

So this has nothing to do with the fact that HBO doesn't run commercials,
where-as a show in syndication needs to run commercials and so needs
to cut out parts of a show to fit the commercials in. It's all censorship.

The moment the government tries to control the media is the moment we should all be very, very scared.

Nothing good can come of government contolled media. If this is the first step then God help us All.

Seriously what do you have against companies? All jobs in America, all of them, are generated by companies. Including government jobs. Governments live off of confiscations, either directly from the people or from companies.

Some companies are big and powerful but none of them are so big and powerful they can really control anything. Our antitrust laws prevent this and so now does the fast pace of technical and economic progress in the world.

There are 17 new members of the 30 Dow Jones Industrials since the start of the 90's. Only one company, GE, still remains, from original 12. If they are the ones maintaining power and control in this country they don't seem to be doing a good job of keeping their power.

Our government when looked at as a company is by far the biggest on earth with more employees and revenue (and certainly more costs) than any company on earth by a factor of 10. It has the most influence and ability to corrupt the fairness of the systems that dictate the economy than any oligarchy that exists in the free market a hundred times over. Inherent mistrust of the government is a good thing due simply to the immense power it wields.

In principle, absolutely nothing.

I'm pro-capitalism (which thrives on competition) and anti-corporatism (which uses entrenched power to eliminate competition and inevitably leads to monopolies.)

Hope that clears things up.

Typical right-wing straw man argument:

If I object to the following, then I must be "anti-business."

Study says most corporations pay no U.S. income taxes

http://www.reuters.com/article/newsO...49465620080812

Most firms pay no income taxes - Congress

Study finds that the majority of domestic and foreign corporations in the United States avoid paying federal income taxes.

But count the payroll taxes and they pay alot. And pay for most of their employess medical coverage. The less income taxes for corporations the more jobs created. Pretty simple.

That's one of the most egregious right-wing canards of all time.

Just the opposite proved to be true during GeeDubya's eight-year watch.

Those corporations who received the big tax cuts under Bush didn't create new jobs - they just pocketed the money and shipped jobs overseas.

Bush presided over the first net job loss since Hoover (his historical twin.)

I call BS on your statistics. Somehow I don't think Clinton generated 3m *8yrs = 24m jobs during his presidency. There are only about 110m people in the workforce. You can tell it is BS by the blog name on the chart.

Here is the misery index (unemployment & inflation rate) of each president.

This website has some real data.

The source for the first graph is the U.S. Bureau of Labor.

But even if you are right, you still haven't refuted my last post about "tax cuts for big corporations = more jobs."
