Default The Official 2009-2010 NBA Thread

It's about that time, ladies and gentlemen.

The season officially tips off TONIGHT!

This should be a pretty interesting season. Lakers still the favorites, but will get some competition from the likes of Denver, San Antonio, Portland, etc.

The East should be good with Cleveland, Boston, and Orlando going at it.

Predictions? Thoughts? Hopes? Fears?

(Go Nuggets!)

Did the Nugs get a big man that can play this off-season? Some one that can defend Gasol?

Not really, no.

With that said, I don't think Gasol is the problem. He's good, but he's made much better by the defense focusing and shifting around what Kobe does.

AZ how are you feeling about the Jazz? Carlos Boozer is being traded this season, yes or no?

NBA sends the Nuggets to China, then on the road for 7 or their first 8 games, and suspends JR for 7.

I don't like that.

We got Malik Allen. Ive never heard of him.

Real interested to see how Afflalo does these first 7 games, he will get a ton of minutes starting out. Hopefully he can pick right up where Jones left off.

And God I hope Lawson gets more minutes than AC. Ive gotten to a point where I just cant stand Carter anymore. Hopefully this will be his last year with the Nugs as Lawson steps in and develops under Chauncey.

Yeah he will be gone. He sucks in postseason once he runs into length in Gasol or Duncan. He would be gone now but he overvalues himself. I haven't really been paying much attention to hoops yet since it is middle of NFL season. Maynor has suposedly looked great as the rookie backup to Deron. That was a big dropoff last year when the 2nd team came in.

Portland? Please. They already have injury and chemistry issues. Andre Miller is fat and won't accept anything less than a starting PG role.

I have doubts about a number of the Spurs holding up for the entire season, as well.

Expect a slow start from the Nuggets, but I still expect them to land somewhere between 50-55 wins.

We shall see. They have a long early road trip, but aren't facing any of the scary EC teams. But no JR for most of those. Yech.

It will be interesting to see how the Bulls do. I kind of wonder if Rose improved his defense at all. Something tells me he worked on his shooting more than his defense though. Im kind of interested to see how Noah will do coming off of a strong second half last year. And Johnson looks like he could be a player. I kind of wonder if Brad Miller is going to suck this year.

Back to BACK , b****es.

I'm definitely thinking lakers/nuggz again in the WCF. You guys are gonna LOVE your new acquisition from UCLA. afflalo...he's a baller, extremely smart, tough defender. Great team player

I'm excited to see what'll happen with chauncey in the lineup the entire year.

As far as the lake show goes, Ron Ron is gonna be huge. There was an article in the times that illustrated a great point...Now Kobe isn't gonna have to lock on to the best defender for whichever team they happen to be playing that night. He can just sit back and orchestrate that offense. It's just incredible, thinkin about our starting five. Kobe, ron ron, fish, gasol, and bynum. With mr. kardashian comin off the bench.
Throw in the fact that the little girl cut his hair, and our second team looks better than ever.

Kobe is gonna have one of his best years yet, bynum breaks out, gasol (who just won in europe, and has been playin all summer) continues to be one of the best PF's in the league, and we roll.

HOORAY FOR THE REGULAR SEASON!

Time to put a beat down on the clip joint.

FINALLY, it's nba time.

Go lakers, go nuggz, eff teh celtics.

I can't believe the C's went into Cleveland and took the game tonight.

You know what's going to suck this year? EVERY single time the Cavaliers suffer a big loss (like tonight) you just KNOW the next day you'll hear something like this: "Man, the Cavs just can't get it together. LeBron is gone for sure next year."

I mean seriously, I love the NBA, I love talking about it, etc, but I can't handle another 8 months of "OMG where will LeBron go?!?!" talk.

Amen to that. Hopefully Lebron decides to announce he will remain a Cav in the near future.

I mean, I totally get that this summer can and will change the face of the NBA for years... And perhaps if my team was going to take a run at him I'd feel differently... But I just can't rehash this story anymore. It'll be interesting next summer when it actually happens, but until then, I just don't want to hear it.

Shaq is awful, I am so glad he is out of Phoenix.

Back to run and gun!!! Scoring 110 ppg is going to be fun. If this team gels a bit we will be back to the semi's with a rematch with the Lakers or Spurs again.

Cant wait for this season to officially begin tomorrow.

Also, the Clippers seem to have a solid roster when Blake gets back. Will they fight for that eighth spot with OKC and Rockets??

No, the story is stupid. At least until the season ends. OMGZ biggest summer eva 2010!!11 gets a little old when they started covering it like a year ago.

Anyway Nugs/Lakers WCF, Celtics/Magic in ECF. Lakers/Celtics, Lakers win. But I see the west having another awesome regular season with what Portland, San Antonio, and Dallas did among the other already good teams like the Jazz(gtfo Booze, it's Milsap time). I think the East may be a bit closer this year but we'll see about that.

And my plan is to finally make a couple Nuggs games this year. I also hope Ty Lawson takes over most of AC's minutes, Chauncey/Ty will be sweet to watch.
