Our offense generally just seems to get better and better as the game goes on.

Been the case in our last 3 games, by the time the 4th quarter comes around we seem to be really in a groove as an offense.

Orton gets a lot of credit for this, obviously, but a lot of this is McDaniels as well. His playcalling is superb, it gives the offense a chance to make plays without being overly aggressive. He sort of feels out the opposing defense as the game goes on and by the time the 4th quarter comes around it's like he knows how to beat them.

Can't really overstate how good a coach I think we have, being a Bronco fan is pretty sweet right now.

Stokely's tip and run and Marshalls takeaway/run contributed.

That doesn't diminish Orton's play in the second half.

Regarless Neckbeard has played out of his mind.

Everyone says Orton benefits from great YAC but it appears Big Ben, Matt Schaub, Manning and Flacco benefit even more.

Interesting find. People want to hold the YAC against Orton, but the fact of the matter is that job of any QB--elite or otherwise--is to put the ball is the hands of his playmakers and let them do their thing. Joe Montana benefited greatly from YAC during his heyday. That does not take anything away from his accomplishments.

4th quarter stats can be more skewed than most.

Could represent anything from a guy picking up cheap garbage yards throwing underneath a prevent defense, to a guy taking his team on a 98 yard game winning drive.

That's a good point. Looking at the numbers, pretty much every QB has a higher rating in the 4th than they do overall. So, you have to put it in context. I think it's fair to say, though, that Orton has earned his #1 status. He's been getting it done in tight games with his team either losing or tied.

YAC is also a stat that can be positively influenced by the QB. If you hit a receiver in stride while he's making his break, it creates a lot of open space to get those yards. So I don't think YAC is completely attributed to the WR.

That is true of a lot of the guys in the top 10. In Denver's case you have a HC who knows how to play close games and protect the ball, plus the toys to achieve it; e.g. a great line, excellent receivers, vg running game, and a QB that is smart enough to excel when given those tools. An ideal mix. Through in Denver's nasty defense, and the offense becomes even better.

Brady and Montana are/were very good at setting up receivers (with the right system) to exploit YAC. That being said, I still think Montana benefited more than most QBs of his time because of the system...but that is a totally different argument/thread.

I don't know, YAC can be a sign of a very smart QB who makes very good decisions too. It's obvious to anyone who has watched Manning that his decision making and skill leads to YAC. It's part of what makes him such a good QB.

Just to make a point.

BTW, Russell was below 20th in the NFL, 15th in the AFC.

We better jump out to an early lead against B-more... Flacco is looking pretty good. Should be a good game.
