McDaniels gives Broncos big break
By Lindsay H. Jones The Denver Post Head Coach Josh McDaniels of the Denver Broncos looks on from the sideline against the San Diego Chargers during Monday Night Football on October 19, 2009 at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California. (Getty Images North America | Donald Miralle) As if a 3-1/2-game lead in the AFC West and a perfect 6-0 record weren't good enough, the Broncos players got more good news: almost five full days off. Players came to Dove Valley this morning for some meetings and to watch film from Monday's 34-23 win at San Diego but were released by lunch time, free to go wherever they please over the bye week. They will return to team headquarters Monday to start preparing for their Nov. 1 game at Baltimore. "We made some corrections on the film, but we didn't feel like it was in our best interest to go out there and do a lot of practicing this week so we didn't," coach Josh McDaniels said today. "We want to give them a few days to get their minds off football, and get refocused and ready to go." Coaches will work for a couple of more days before taking a day or two off at the end of the week. "This is the last one," McDaniels said. "It's kind of like your last breath before the stretch here." Coaches have six week's worth of game tape to evaluate over the next couple of days, enough to help determine what they need to fix for the final 10 games. McDaniels said one of the team's main goals for when their season resumes is to play better in the first half. While the Broncos have been stellar offensively and defensively in the second half, they have been outscored 36-24 in the first quarter so far this season and have trailed at halftime in each of the past three games. "You take a look at what we've done, some of the tendencies we've created our selves that we want to change and adjust going forward," McDaniels said. "I think it's important that you try to protect yourself from becoming predictable, and that's part of the process this week. Hopefully we're not too predictable this week, but we're going to try to change the things we need to change, and fix the things that need to be fixed." |

I hope McDaniels takes a couple days for his family as well. He's definitely earned them.

It's fine they get 5 days off but it's not like these guys get up and go to work all day 5 days a week all year long with a measly 2 week vacation like most of us. The NFL season is very short and they get long breaks in the later winter and spring into summer. Most of us wouldn't know what to do with ourselves with that much time off.

Things like this (5 days off) are some of the things that keep the players buying into whatever the coach has to sell. Rest and get healthy and come out guns blazing vs the Ravens.... It is going to be a very tough game.

As long as the coaching staff isn't taking the same 5 days.....All is well.
This team is not losing until maybe Indy. |

Another douche move by McDaniels.
He's so mean, like all these young whippersnapper HC's. |

Right after the SD game, Logan was interviewing him on the radio.
Logan: "Think you'll want to come in Friday, like normal?" McD: "Nah. I think I'll take my kids to school instead." Awesome. I would guess he'll be schtupping his wife as well, though he didn't say it out loud.

If we start playing better in the first half, and continue our second half dominance...wow. |

I said to my wife last night that McDaniels gave the Broncos the next 5 days off.
She said, "I hope they stay out of trouble!" I gave her a death stare. |
