So far, not much.
But with two excellent TE's on the team, he needs time to block his way into more playing time. |

Jury still out really.
Short term we could have put the pick to better use, he's not been on the field much at all this year. Long term, he can still prove to be a good pick. I wouldn't be surprised to see multiple TE sets used a lot tomorrow. San Diego struggles covering TE's, and getting extra TE's on the field will only help our run game even further too If that happens, we may see more of Quinn. |

He's going to take over when Graham is done, and frankly I can't think of a better mentor for a young blocking TE.

He could be doing an excellent job for all I know... blockers aren't really noticed much until they mess up.

Only time I really noticed him was on the off-sides special teams goof up that extended New England's drive. As someone else noted, though, you don't tend to notice TE blocking contributions on offense. I didn't like the pick to begin with simply because of where he was selected and the fact we already had two quality TEs. But it's only 5 games in, so the jury is still out.

5 games in he is a bust.. I expected 3-4 TD's by now with 8 pancakes, what a loser.

i think that was the plan with him and Smith being drafted. have them learn behind the best at their positions for a little while and then take over.

Just for the hell of it who could we have drafted with those 2 3rd round picks we gave up to draft Quinn?

5 games in as a rookie, it's hard to make a definitive judgment... particularly for a position like blocking tight end.
I wonder how many here are breaking down tapes on a weekly basis going over how well he's sealing off his blocks. Give it some time. |

Well, that was not quite the trade. We trade two 3rds for a 2nd AND a 4th. In others words, we essentially agreed to move back a couple dozen slots with one pick in order to move up for Quinn, but we didn't actually lose a pick. I believe David Bruton was selected with the 4th.

For a guy that we trade up for in the 2nd, it would nice if we were seeing a little more production. He not a bust, but there was reason that pick was seen as reach at the time.

he screwed up bad in the Pats game on that 2nd punt penalty, but that's not enough to go on

I still feel we could have drafted him later, and instead used a combination of picks to move up in the second for Alphonso instead of using the 2010 first. But what's done is done. I hope he works out, if he ends up replacing Graham and being a similar value on the field as him then it was worth it.

Smith is insurance at the CB position for two 30-somethings in Goodman and Bailey. McBath and Bruton are insurance at both safety spots. Quinn is TE insurance. Olsen is an OG to develop behind Hamilton. Brandstater obviously is a developmental QB. In the case of Smith he can get on the field as the nickel CB. Bruton and to a lesser degree McBath see the field as ST gunners. But for Quinn there isn't quite as clean a fit for him on STs or in rotation. But McDaniels obviously regretted losing Graham from NE's offense and took Quinn to make sure he could develop a worthwhile replacement if Graham gets hurt or starts to fade earlier than desired. A TE who can block is essential for McDaniels' offense to work well. |

I'm guessing that Quinn is being developed as an eventual Graham replacement, so its hard to say how things are going to turn out so early his career.
