Two heads up plays on the offense
1. Orton throws, the ball gets tipped like 100feet in the air and marshall swats the ball down for the incomplet (ALWAYS BETTER TO SWAT THEN GO FOR THE CATCH) 2. Orton throws, the ball is tipped, the ball floats over a sea of patriot's and jabbar gaffeny snags the catch. Those two plays didnt seem like much, but were VITAL in this win! Smart, smooth, heads up situational football we are playing! Thoughts? |

Any time a game goes to OT, you can say that pretty much every play of note was key one way or another.
The tipped passes. The sack/fumble of Brady. The missed field goals by both teams. The overthrows by Brady. The taunting call. The three third down stops on one drive by our defense. Wild Horses I could go on. Having said all that, I just knew the game was in the bag before kickoff. How you ask? Just had to look at the coaches. A year or two ago, Bill Simmons or someone of that ilk (TMQB?) noted in one of their articles that in every cold weather game for the past X years, whichever coach wore the least amount of heavy layers won the game. I've made note of it since and have never seen it disproven. Yesterday, Belichick had the full down/gortex coat. McDaniels? The hoodie. Advantage, McDaniels. |

See THAT'S what Marshall was doing during mini-camp - PRACTICING his "tipped ball bat down" skills!

A coach that has this team playing as a team without the individual me first attitudes.

Ah, now...Denver had this game in the bag before it even started! They were cracking skulls all during the first half...by the 2nd half NE didn't want to win anymore. You could definitely tell who wanted it more.

Another game with some questionable playcalling, but also another win.
Personally, I was surprised at how conservative BOTH teams were at times, though we did open it up in the second half, and we FINALLY threw the ball on 3rd and short. A first down pass that won the game. Sure, Brady missed a few passes that he normally wouldn't have (the one to Welker likely a TD), but you still have to look at the defense and be impressed. On offense, this was the closest we've come to really showing what we can do. Long sustained drives, lots of guys making plays, and Royal and Marshall involved at the same time. TWO drives stalled around their 40 (both of which you could make an argument that we should've gone for it) and Prater (predictably) missed a FG or this could've been the "breakout" game as far as points on the board. More solid play from the defense, more signs of strong team unity, and more solid play from Orton. Aside from the hideous uniforms (that should be burned all over again!) all is well in Broncos Country!! |

I'd say Prater deserves at least an 'atta boy. Given, he missed one... but he connected at clutch time.
