QUICKLY:

* The Broncos, who are 4-0 for the first time in six seasons, will wear the uniform designs worn by the club in its 1960 inaugural season (brown helmet, mustard-colored jersey, brown pants and vertically striped socks).
* Head Coach Josh McDaniels was part of three Super Bowl wins as an assistant with the Patriots from 2001-08. During his three years as offensive coordinator (2006-08), the Patriots scored an NFL-best 1,384 points.
* The Broncos own the NFL’s top record against the Patriots since 2001 with a 5-2 mark and are a league-best 16-4 (.800) versus the club in the Pat Bowlen era (since 1984).

OFFENSE:

* QB Kyle Orton is 17-2 (.895) at home as a starter for his NFL career for the best winning percentage by a QB since the 1970 merger (min. 15 starts). He is the only starting QB in the NFL to not throw an interception this year and owns five touchdown passes along with a 97.7 passer rating.
* WR Brandon Marshall gained 33 yards after the catch on his 51-yard game-winning touchdown reception last week against Dallas. Since 2007, he ranks second among NFL WRs in yards after the catch (1,068).

DEFENSE:

* Coached by long-time NFL defensive coordinator Mike Nolan, the Broncos have tied for the fifth-fewest points allowed (26) by an NFL team through its first four games of a season since the 1970 merger.
* Denver leads the league in several other defensive categories, including yards per play (4.0), touchdowns allowed (2) and fewest 10-yard plays (33).
* OLB/DE Elvis Dumervil, who is tied for first in the NFL with eight sacks, has recorded multiple sacks in each of Denver’s last three games.

SPECIAL TEAMS:

* The Broncos lead the AFC and rank second in the NFL in average opponent drive start after kickoffs (21.0-yard line).
* K Matt Prater was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Month for September, becoming the first Denver kicker to win the award since 2001.

“All Ready”- Darrent Williams

"That's our defense, It's always somebody's turn to make a play, and it can come from anywhere. Some days it's you, some days it's somebody else. So you do your job until it's your time. And at some point, you know it's going to be your time. I think that's what everybody likes about this defense." – DJ Williams

"You have got to handle adversity when you face that, and you handle prosperity the same way. You have got to deal with it and move on. The biggest game is the next one, and that is how we are approaching this. This is our fifth game of the year and we feel… We are happy to be 4-0 but are certainly far from satisfied."–Josh McDaniels

"It is what it is, whether you like them or not. It is what it is. We are going to go out and hopefully put a great product on the field. That is what we are shooting for, anyway. It matters not what the uniform we wear. I know it is a kidding question, but for us, there is too much wrapped up in this game to be wrapped up in the ugliness or the beauty of a jersey." –Brian Dawkins

"I think Eddie and I have probably the best rapport with all of our receivers. We have worked extremely hard, and Eddie is one of those guys that stays after practice every day to run routes and make sure he is doing everything that I want him to do. He has worked hard. We would love to get him the ball more. Maybe this will be the week." -Kyle Orton

"Everybody gets turns, and in some schemes they don't. Guys who cover, cover; and guys who rush, rush. But in our scheme, any one of the 11 can rush the passer or drop (into coverage). There's a multiple of jobs that you have, and players enjoy that" -Mike Nolan

I'm more worried about those uniforms. They have bad look written all over them.

Mayo's on track to play
Posted by Mike Florio on October 10, 2009 10:43 PM ET

Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo reportedly suffered a Grade III MCL sprain during a Week One win over the Bills.

Less than four weeks after suffering the injury, Mayo is on track to make his return to action.

Though he's listed as questionable for Sunday's game at Denver, Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com reports that safety James Sanders is the only New England player who has been downgraded to "out."

In addition to Sanders and Mayo, the following Patriots players have been listed as questionable: tackle Nick Kaczur (ankle), cornerback Shawn Springs (knee), receiver Wes Welker (knee), and defensive tackle Vince Wilfork (ankle). Since none have been downgraded to out for the Week Five showdown with the team coached by former Pats offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels, all could play.

Galloway didn't make trip to Denver
Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on October 11, 2009 8:32 AM ET

By kickoff Sunday, we usually learn what injured players didn't make the team flight for a road game, confirming their status for the weekend.

Patriots wide receiver Joey Galloway was one such player who stayed home this week, according to ESPN's Ed Werder.

Except that he isn't injured.

Galloway "did not accompany" the Patriots to Denver because he was going to be a healthy scratch for the second straight week.

This seems like curious behavior, but perhaps wiser members of PFT Planet can let us know if it's common to leave healthy veterans behind occasionally if they aren't suiting up.

Werder points out that Galloway is a vested veteran with a guaranteed contract, so the Patriots don't want to release him unless it's necessary.

Werder's source says,"I think [Galloway] will be okay. This is just part of the Patriot maturation process."

We'll see. Galloway hasn't struggled to get open when he's played, but he's suffered from a number of drops and mental errors that have cost his team points.

One of the receivers ahead of Galloway in the Patriots rotation is Julian Edelman, who was playing quarterback last year at Kent State. (And looks like a keeper.) Another receiver in front of Galloway is Sam Aiken, who has only 28 career catches, but is a core special teams player.

The fact that Galloway didn't accompany the Patriots this week doesn't mean that he's going to be cut necessarily, but it's safe to say the 38-year-old's stint in New England is hardly going as planned.

Boomer just said on CBS that this was going to be our "wake up call".

I hope that one makes it to Denver's locker room.

Saw that, seems like our boy Shannon is the only one believing in them. Cowher is still playing the "we've only beat garbage teams" card. Today makes or breaks the team in the media.

Patriot maturation process? Galloway is a 12+ year NFL vet...Not like the guy was Randy Moss or Corey Dillon and comes with tons of baggage.
