Is this madden any good? I have avoided it because I decided to start buying them every other year now, mostly so I could get through more seasons before buying a new one. I am starting to rethink that now though. Do you guys recommend this one? Is it a lot better than last years? I don't play online madden so I don't need to keep current for that.

I do the same thing. However, I buy the even years. I love 10. Its a lot more realistic. There are more stats and the gameplay is slower.

Best Madden on next gen for sure. And franchise actually is fun because players progress more than just two years and the draft has lots and lots of gems.

Significantly better across the board.

Its the framework they should have started this generation with, not what they finally got out over half way through.

If you like franchise mode you will really like the new Madden too. Player progression is more balanced and realistic, the game created rookies (not using NCAA draft classes) are well balanced, etc..

Still bouts of unrealistic BS and you can pick up top 5 talents in the draft in like the 5th and 6th rounds, but in general a massive step forward for the series.

Better player progression would be the number one reason for me to get this. I hate 09s progressions. I couldn't get our young o-line to go up at all no matter what I do.

Its all about the potential rating assigned (which you can see for anyone on your roster). An 'A' potential means they'll improve by leaps and bounds, capable of reaching a mid to high 90's overall. A 'B' will improve well, maybe even faster than an 'A', but will top out in the high 80's/low 90's. 'C' rated players will struggle to get past the low to mid 80's, and the D guys won't improve much at all.

An 80-something is a good rating for a player though, unlike previous years. 90's aren't just every solid player on every team now and a mid to high 90's guy is something to be treasured because even an 'A' potential all around stud might not have quite the right balance of skills and performance to reach that 98 or 99 overall level.

I wound up swapping out Daniel Graham for Pat Williams in my current franchise. Awesome.

Domata Peko of the Bengals is a great long term NT, 'A' potential, good size, strength, and agility.

Best one I've played yet and I noticed today that the Broncos were up to an 81 team ranking. Seems like we started the season in the low 70's??

To bad our LBers still aren't good enough to play a 3-4...i move Doom and Ayers to the DE spots and use the Philly D play book! Been much better on D since!

Still no love for Davis...his speed is only a 69 wtf??
A 69 speed isn't that bad on the default speed and speed differental settings. A little low for Davis, but he probably shouldn't be any higher than a mid-70 on the defaults.

Now that they've bumped Elvis up quite a bit its pretty easy to play a 3-4 with the Broncos team. Leave Doom as the weak side OLB and decide on going realistic (Ayers at SOLB and DJ at ILB) or best total value (Ayers at ILB, DJ at SOLB). Its not a big swing but DJ loses a point or two moving inside (much better than most OLBs at it) but Ayers if I recall doesn't lose any, and a 270 pound ILB who moves through traffic like him his hard to beat.

You could also move them both inside, dump Davis (who still isn't very good on the game) and let Haggan who they've been improving play SOLB.

The bigger problem is getting good DE play. To that end I always move Moss back to DE (where he becomes a servicable 80 or so) and just play a small, fast front that my oversized linebackers pickup the slack for, until I can replace them through the draft.

Doom at DE is a 97...i control him every snap and 95% of the time my first pass rush move and i'm on my way to the QB and either get a sack, presure or cause the QB to throw a crappy pass cause i'm hitting him as he throws it. I put Barrett in at LB...leave DJ in the middle and move Davis to the weakside! I was on a 8 game win streak until some douche decided to be the Giants. It's tough playing guys who constantly be the Giants, Steelers etc.
