Any chance we extend this guys before they price themselves out of our market? It would really be disappointing to see them go. BM will hopefully continue to mature in the McD system and become a bigger monster than he already is on the field, and Doom...well he has always let his work speak for itself.

Good point. McD seems to be to QBs what Shanny was to RBs. If we can get away with a QB that is just better than avg, all the power to him. That is a nice place to save some dough to use in some of our other skill positions.

At this point, Doom is worth a 5 year $35m deal. I think he would take that and they better get that done in a hurry b/c if he ends up with 20+ sacks, he's going to be worth 5 years and $50m.
BMarsh is going to get 6 years and $48m. Both will get about $15m guaranteed. |

One thing Broncos fans need to prepare themselves for is the potential of a star or two leaving. Organizations like SF (in the 90s) and NE are well-known for making tough choices when it comes to keeping the pay structure correct and keeping balance within their teams.
I don't think there's any way Doom goes anywhere, but Marshall is still iffy. Don't forget we've got an entire O-line of guys to think about, too. I'm not saying we won't extend both of the guys in question... but these cases might not be the slam-dunks you'd think, going forward. McDaniels believes in a balanced organization and part of that hinges on who you pay... and when. |

Talk about pulling shiat out of your ass... They let the old guys go, not the young guys that perform. They pay them, it's the McD way... lol |

I would hope we'd re-sign Doom by midseason, then give BM a first and third tender.

Skill positions are well paid in NE. Moss and Brady have good contracts. They drafted a RB early in the first a couple of yrs back, so they paid him well. They franchised their CB one, yr, again paying good money. However, they don't seem to OVER pay, which is a good practice. BTW, I don't think the OL will be as high priced as you suggest. Yes, they will earn more than they do know, but other than our LT (and he has a few more yrs to go), none of them will be in the top echelon of the pay scale. Other than RBs, Denver has always been good at using OL players that don't command large salaries, but are excellent within the system.
