Don Banks has us at 11. He wont put us in the top 10 unless we beat dallas.

Here's the thing.

Minnesota and Baltimore have the same record and have both played equally soft cushy schedules.

While I am sipping the Kool Aid, I am not convinced we will make the playoffs, either.

That's funny, so did we.

AND, they only held cleveland to 17 fewer yards than we did. AND they struggled with KC for 3.5 quarters of their game.

WTF.

I know. I am so pumped. Ball control O. Good run D that can also get after the QB AND get some turn overs.

Seriously, what is not to like about this team?

Do you really believe there is no basis for thinking that Baltimore and Minnesota are better than Denver?

There's a basis. The preseason thoughts of talking heads. That's it.

Just like in college (or more accurately, ESPECIALLY in college), they should wait a few weeks before the first rankings come out.

what you talking about, rankings start at the end of the previous season. then offseason. then preseason. its so stupid and such media filler bull****.

There's also logic and reason, but those are avenues you apparently prefer not to pursue.

Logic and reason dictate that a "power poll" should reflect results and style points in games THAT HAVE ACTUALLY BEEN PLAYED.

But you'd rather snipe. Whatever, man.

Are you saying that, if you were betting on games and trying to make money, you would not consider (i) how good the team was last year, (ii) additions or subtractions from the roster that might make the team either better or worse, or (iii) your own and others' opinions as to the overall talent level and skill of the roster generally, and in key positions?

Of course I would. I would also NOT bet on the first three games of the season. Call me crazy, but I think a lot can change in one off season and I'd rather see the product on the field before I gamble on a team.

But then, I like not losing my money.

What I'm most annoyed with, as I've said before, is those "experts" discounting the broncos because of a weak slate, while celebrating the Ravens for playing AT LEAST as easy a schedule.

But again, maybe that's just me.

Have you watched Baltimore and Minnesota? Seriously.

Minnesota needed a miracle throw by Favre to beat San Francisco. They let Cleveland run all over them, they beat Detroit but struggled mightily in the first half against them (weren't even winning in the first half).

COnversely, Baltimore should have lost to SD but for a Norvfart at the end of the game. They give up well over 400 yards to SD in the air. They did stomp cleveland, but like us, who gives a ****, its Cleveland and they let Kansas ****ty hang around for 3 and a half quarters before finally shutting the door on them. Kansas ****ty.

Now, Kansas City lost to Oakland...AT HOME. The same Oakland team we just made look like a junior high school team. We held Cincy scoreless for 59 and a half minutes but its "lucky" we won that game. Cincy has better quality wins than San Diego does and according to most experts is better than SD at this point in time. (probably wont last, but who knows).

What exactly makes you think that Baltimore or Minnesota is "that much" better than Denver?

Denver may or may not be as good as those teams but even if they are better, they aren't head and shoulders better than Denver. Not from what I have seen of any of them.

I am concerned with this team being able to come from behind. We are pretty conservative, not sure we could muster a comeback if we needed one, and at some point we will.

No there is for sure. They were better last yr, coming into this yr. So they get benefit of the doubt over Broncos who have been choking things away every yr.
