Default Brandon Marshall made the play of the game

In retrospect.. on First down Orton throws it up for grabs and its intercepted. Marshall played defensive back and pulled the guy out of bounds (barely). If he doesn't make that play, 2nd down never happens.

It's amazing how things that seem so insignificant at the time come back to REALLY matter.

I wanted to wait on any bashing, but let's just say that Brandon was an absolute liability out there today.

I'm too stoked about this win to get involved in complaining, but of all the things to be happy about today... Marshall was absolutely not one of them, imo.

I honestly thought he might have been tanking it at times today. It almost looked purposeful. Better judgment tells me that's not true, but it sure looked ugly.

It was disturbing how out of sync he looked out there today.

That makes up for the 50 yard pass from Orton that went right through his hands in the first half.

That was my first thought too, his routes didn't look so crisp either and not much fire at all. I thought perhaps he's still butt hurt over not getting his contract and humiliating himself in the process?

Orton didn't have a good game but he was hamstrung by a lot of untimely drops on third down that could have easily help get the O in rhythm with a few of those completions.

Orton did make a real FUBAR with that decision to take the sack near the end there, but got some redemption on the gift play by Stokely.

It was first game sloppiness all around but steller D play and Orton and the O has another week to tune it up and look respectable next wee.

If the O can just clean it up a bit and make some good drives, our shiny new D wont be asked to play in a hole all day, as it was today, and we should win some games!

The O can only improved from here and if Orton can't get it done and look a lot better next week we'll likely see Simms by the Oakland game.

Either way I was very encouraged by the D.

The last series they were butt tired from being out there all day as it was with little help at all from the O. That and the poor decision from Nolan to go zone and stop blitzing on the last drive.

But Marshall playing almost laconic like that isn't going to fly. I expect a significant improvement with the whole O show at home next week.

Maybe it's true that Shanny was going to bench him. He looked like he didn't give a ****. If he is truly tanking it then he really is one of the most moronic human beings on the planet, he's only hurting himself.

Before everyone diagnoses Marshall's state of mind. It's tough to play fast when you haven't played in preseason and don't know the playbook. He also had a big 3rd-down catch in the 4th.

Orton Put the ball where only Marshall could catch it and stay inbounds. It was a great throw. The kind you have to throw with 40 secs one time out and 60 yds to go.

It was a hugely important play. If Brandon doesn't drag him out, it's a loss. Plain and simple.

That's the sort of thing big plays are made out of.

Team win.

Brandon will get better. He was having fun with Stokes oon the sideline after the big play - that kind of thing is infectious for a team looking for identity.

I think Marshall looks better next week.

I didn't want to start a thread on this subject, but it sure looked to me like Marshall was dogging it a bit out there. I could be wrong, but that's the way it looked to me.

Oh I should toss in:

I'm not saying Marshall played well, he clearly didn't (the effort on the two point conversion even was... meh). But on that one play, he came up huge.

I'm glad I'm not the only one to have that thought watching the game today. And since we're not alone....is it a conspiracy? Paranoia? Or possibly true?

Come on you guys give him a break, Marshall was probably up all night working the phones for the Jerry Lewis Telethon, oh wait that was another week end.

The OP is just foolish. Stokley made the play of the game. That isn't even debatable. Hell, that might just be the play of the year in the NFL period.

Marshall got better as the game went on. So did Orton. They're both struggling with a new offensive system and a lack of repetitions within that system, same as Moreno. Moreno had only a few downs, Marshall had zero, and Orton had three pre-season games but he's the QB and that means he needs significantly more time to get up to speed.

Its full steam ahead and nothing but up from here from an offensive standpoint though. Marshall is going to get fired up. Moreno seems to be fine after the hard hit and got a taste of game speed. Orton weathered the storm with only one truly horrible decision (taking the sack) that cost us. They'll all get better with time.

Players who act like this deserve to benched until they learn. Obviously he hasn't learned anything from his suspension.

Gotta play him in the hopes that they can franchise him. Can't foolishly demand a 1st and 4th for Marshall if he's sitting the bench.

Play the Brotha and Pay the Brotha!!
