yes....it's great that they sat on that story during the entire off-season so Denver and Bowlen could be trashed for 6 months.

No doubt that Marshall is a bit of a head-case (like our former QB) but I question whether he COST games for Denver.

I am calling BS on this. Why does this story suddenly appear, when it happened months ago. Beside Shanahan would have traded Marshall before he cut him. Cutting him does nothing for the team.

If its BS Schefter will have Shanahan's side out on ESPN before the end of the day.

If we hear nothing from Shanahan's side? Hard to call BS then. Shanahan did weird ****. He only gave Jim Bates a half year, but he was all set to line Slowick up for season number 2. He started John Engelberger over Elvis Dumervil on multiple occasions. He moved DJ from position to position like some sort of scrub you're trying to find a home for, not a 1st round pick and DROY candidate his first season at WOLB. He brought back Ian Gold at stupid money. I could go on, but suffice to say that Shanahan the GM did a lot of **** that was completely irrational and did nothing to help the team.

Brandon is a POS, but I have my doubts that the same guy who drafted Maurice Clarette and signed Travis Henry would just cut outright one of the elite talents in the league

Add in that this came from "Shanahan to coach the Chiefs" Mort, and well Ill take this one with a grain of salt

It would spare the team a whole lot of drama and distraction.

What kind of price do you put on that?

Appears Shanny was going to cut him and then the next day Shanny is fired. Maybe Marshall has pics on somebody, wonder what Oliver Stone thinks about this?

I think Shanny, the GM, got way, way in over his head and the realization was the late season collapse. His legacy would have been further tarnished had he stayed to try to fix it but would have been destroyed if he quit. Perhaps his unwillingness to fire Slowick was his way forcing Bowlen's hand and fire him because there was no easy out. It's too bad, as a coach, he's one of the all time greats but at the end of his time here, he was continually trying the quick fix instead of admitting we needed to rebuild and got burned.

It is coming from Chris Mortenson, so it is almost definitely false. Schefter is the ONLY 100% legitimate source of NFL breaking news.

This isn't a Shanahan vs. McDaniels situation.

I find it completely in the realm of possibility. Shanny had tenure, and lots of confidence in his way. Plus he was there for the supposed hip injury fiasco. You don't think it's possible Marshall wasn't acting like a complete douche last year, too?

for those of you saying it's false...

keep in mind that his story is that Shanny informed Cutler of this the day before his firing...

so if the story is false, Cutler could immediately refute this...

i find it hard to believe that even Mort would come out with a report this bold that so easily implicates both Shanny and Cutler...

Shanny was rebuilding the offense thats what he does best. Defensively Shanny doesn't know how to rebuild that side of the ball.

Hence this offseason and preseason, Mike spent time talking to teams and attending training camps of those teams that had steller defenses. He's learned his lesson and errors of his ways in preparation for returning to the NFL with a new HCing job.

Wasn't word flying around that he was bringing Slowik with him?

Then he hasn't learned a thing. (coming from someone who was once a Shanny supporter)

He'd be better off attending draft meetings of successful teams

Shanny wouldn't have been the first to cut Marshall that year.
