Ok guys. With the slash in prices, I'm going to go out and get a gaming console and give my poor, battered PC a rest. Just porn for you from now on, ol' fella.
Anyway, I'd like some advice on which console to buy. I'm deciding between the Xbox360 and the PS3. I already know I don't want the Wii. So, to help you help me, let me tell you that in the last year the game's I've played on the PC that I've really liked are: Far Cry 2 Fall Out 3 Grand Theft Auto IV I like action/RPGs mostly. I like wide open worlds. And I like to be blown away by graphics. Don't know if that helps in recommending either the Xbox or PS, but thought I'd throw it in. I'm an old-school gamer, having cut my teeth on an old Tandy in the 80's. I still remember fondly swapping out 5 1/4 inch floppys while playing StarFlight. Ok. So there you have it. Thanks for your help!! |

I play multiplayer almost exclusively so I say Xbox.
PS 3 has some good exclusives like GOW and Heavenly Sword, but so does Xbox with Mass Effect (AMAZING) etc. If you throw it up to graphics PS3 is the winner (except on crossplatform games, then theyre exactly the same in both). |

Truthfully, right now - I'ver heard the rpgs and jrpgs are better on 360. In all reality though the libraries are similar and theres good style of games on both systems.
I initially got the PS3 more for a Blu-ray, internet, music, media machine, but have played lots of games on it since. Its really an overall entertaining piece of equipment, but I think the Xbox can do most of that as well. They both can download movies at least. |

blu-ray is killer if you're looking for that feature.
I have both, I almost only use my PS3 for blu-ray anymore after each new blockbuster game comes out I'll play for a week or so and go back to Xbox games. |

I have the PS3. I plan on getting an XBox 360 relatively soon. Both systems are amazing, so why not both?

Not ignoring my own thread, fellas. Just letting the numbers tally up. Not enough yet to tip me one way or the other!

Safe to say they are both good. Look at the game library and decide your tastes. It is about the games, anyway.

If you want the best get yourself a gaming pc.
For consoles, go with the 360. bigger library of games, xbox live, better graphics. blu ray players are cheap now anyways. |

PC gaming is essentially dead. Unless you're a WOW lame or you haven't learned how to play FPS's on a controller (E.g. you suck at them so you claim "I hate playing FPS on a controller, mouse is way better!)

Graphics are not better on a 360. They are good, but the PS3 has better framerate and cleaner lines. ![]() |

you're high.the 360 has a superior graphics chip, and is easier to program for than the PS3.Most PS3 games are below 720p and have no AA.Fire up GTA IV on both and you will see the difference.

They've been saying that it's dead for years now.most if not all games are being released on PC as well.not sure why anyone would choose to play a FPS with a controller instead of a mouse, but you can use a 360 controller on pc games.

Most PS3 games are at 720p, and much like the Xbox 360, it depends on the game itself if it is a true 1080p, if it isnt, the system upscales to fit the resolution of your television. The "easier to program" charge stopped being relevant last year, as evelopers got a handle on the PS3's cell design. ![]() |

Go look at the sales figures for games over the last 10 years. People still play games on NES here and there, but the NES is essentially dead.
