This is not another issue-based thread complete with a link to whatever new story I found compelling on the web. We've got plenty of those. I'm interested in something different though. I'd like to know how people on this board...primarily the regulars in here...research and check your facts, find information, and develop your opinions.
Assume the following; You've just heard, watched or read something amazing in the mass media that grabbed your attention and you think it should be of major interest in here. This story is a big one so you go to Google it and mutliple links pop up with the juicy details. Time to cut and paste?...or do you do anything else? Here's what I'd like to know. 1) Do you fact check your information before posting it? 2) If yes...how do you go about this...steps 1, 2, 3, 4, etc...EXACTLY. 3) What kind of information do you look for? 4) Do you examine any alternative explanations? 5) What is the most thorough thing you do in checking facts? Finally...why do you post in this forum...what is your core motivation? |

I don't think about it. I just cut paste and to put BWHA HA HA HA in the subject heading. I also am mostly focused on pissing people off, being right, and getting people to fall into my evil trap of actually saying what they meant to say. Sometimes I like to get on people about their grammar, spelling and endless run on sentences but I never ever make that mistake myself. I am perfect. I was born perfect. I never blather on and on and on. It's just that you don't understand what I am saying. It's a shame I could not type when I was an infant because of how much brilliance all of you people missed from back then.
Oftentimes I will post something just to see if I can fool someone into taking the bait. It's not childish or lacking maturity. It's cool. Everybody does it! I often try to lure people into debates so that I can call them names or make fun of them in some publicly demeaning manner. I am not really interested in evaluating the content I post. That is secondary. The most important thing to me is demonstrating my clear superiority to the entire freaking world. It's a self confirmation of my absolute rightness about everything. Discovery? What the hell are you talking about? Are you an idiot! STFU! How dare you confuse the voices in my head with actual thoughts and discussion. Checking facts? Who the heck do you think you are? What are you? A braniac? I bet you wear glasses and your mom dresses you funny! Loser! Nobody reads your posts! It's all about me and the people who think I am the coolest poster here. In fact I have never posted anything stupid here ever. I thought I did once but I was mistaken. It was absolute brilliance unleashed. Nobody can comprehend the message that I am bringing. I an beyond you. I am super man. I am the ultimate poster. You wish you could post as cool as me. See my avatar? Where is my avatar? What the bloody hell? What kind of board will let you post just WORDS? No pictures! DAMN IT! THIS BOARD SUCKS I AM NEVER POSTING HERE AGAIN! DAAAAMMMMNITT! |

My core motivation has changed:
I wish to only focus on things that show the direction of where the world is going to go: This new "quantum world". Sometimes i post things that might be outrageous for two reasons: A) I like to push buttons now and again (but have less time, and better things to do more often than not) B) I like crazy **** As far as fact checking - i'll find something i like and post the story - but i do continue to look into articles and will post follow ups. I like to be as fair as i can with information. (which is more than i can say for most of you dumb****s.) My goal isn't to get you to think "my way", but just to get you to think. However, the odditurium is soon closing down. - but - it will exist as a google reader/RSS feed - and will be transitioned over to a webpage for Mirror Magazine_Underground...![]() |

I post things and say things to see what others are thinking. I do not always reveal my true position. And sometimes based on discussions here my position changes.

I see we have some work to do on defining the words "fact check".

I pretty much go along with QT on this one. I really only post here to piss people off.

I would love to see how Gaff responds to this one. Although I am sure he will mention how his posts are quite extensive and done with painstaking research involving trips to huffington post and 911truthers blogs. I would just love to see him say with a straight face that he gets "facts" from proven sources

I find that facts only get in the way of a of a brilliantly worded poke in the eye.

Plato would kill himself again if he posted here.
http://www.eyewitnesstohistory.com/socrates.htm http://suicideandmentalhealthassocia...stheories.html CYBER IRONY: People post to threads to have people READ what they wrote but they do not READ the posts that were posted because it requires too much time READING. Very few posters have the balls to publicly change their position on anything. You see a lot of apology threads or posters getting banned but the nature of this beast of pretty retarded basic premise. Here we are on one the greatest inventions in modern communication beating our chests and thumping cave sticks on the ground. The brutal irony. I love this place. It's like looking into the heavens and realizing it's just a nasty mirror. |
