Stormy Weather Coming Monday, August 17, 2009 By Parrie 2 News The FDIC closed a total of five banks Friday including the sixth largest ever, this caused a downturn on global financial markets that was reflected in the US markets today. The back to school sales have been characterized as a train wreck and this does not bode well for the Christmas retail season. It is very likely however that many retailers won’t be around for that debacle. Retail sales are being driven down by declining income on several fronts. Major cities and even state governments across the country are giving workers unpaid days off and cutting pay as well. Some governments are to the point of scheduling 16 days unpaid for the coming fiscal year and should really be measuring the time off in weeks. This compounds the income already lost to vanished factory jobs and expired unemployment benefits. The inevitable loss of retail jobs will accelerate the decline of the economy still further and as retail sales decline, tax revenue will drop since Republicans have insisted on the regressive sales tax to fund local and state government. The spiraling unemployment will also push more prime loans into foreclosure and spike the number of people who no longer get health insurance burdening still further public health assistance. The decline in property values is expected to cause fully half of mortgages to be underwater by the end of the year putting anybody who is out of work or experiences an income loss in a desperate position. Selling or refinancing becomes impossible and bankruptcy only provides marginal relief since the Republicans blocked the courts from rewriting middle class home mortgages reserving that for corporations and the rich. If something isn’t done soon the speed of the collapse could exceed the ability of government to stop it. With garbage beginning to pile up in the streets and the nuts beginning to carry guns to political rallies things are getting to the point where some unforeseen crisis could put us over the edge. Hurricane season is suddenly picking up as the upper level winds are no longer cutting the tops off of tropical storms. A couple major hurricanes could devastate the oil refineries. China is becoming less and less concerned about the consequences of cutting us off and moving to assume control of our former trading partners. Saudi Arabia is in the middle of a banking crisis that could destabilize the monarchy and other middle-east countries are having currency problems brought on by a real-estate collapse. The list things that could cause a cascade of unfortunate events goes on and on. Why can’t the corporate crooks stop after they get theirs? As well a the psychopathology there is a fundamental Ponzi dilemma. They didn’t get to the point of a 9 figure salary by being a get along choir boy. There are people up and down the food chain that are expecting to continue to get their millions too. They can’t just stop because they "have theirs", there are too many memos and tapes and alternate sets of books in various safes. Then their are the politicians who expect to continue getting paid off to keep them out of prison and on and on. Once put in motion these "on going criminal conspiracies" can’t stop. |

The real problem if something catastrophic happens is that the American people have probably not been this divided since the Civil War. We are not going to come together and face whatever challenges arise. In all likelihood, we'll just come apart and go after each other.

Rather silly analysis, veering into mock and gaff-o territory.
The US, and the world, are not about to collapse. |

gaff-o's memory is the faulty one. Remember his predictions regarding: the canceling of the 2008 election; the imposition of martial law by the Bush administration; the nuking of Teheran; and others?
Of course, he couches his predictions with so many weasel words that he can deny making them, but we've all seen that he regularly engages in apocalyptic nonsense. The end of the world is right around the corner, in gaff-o-Land. No wonder he's a sick ****. |

I made no such predictions. I did warn that anything was possible with Bush -- even a military putsch.
Looking back -- its obvious why Bush and co had no incentive to overthrow the electoral process. The power elite controls the system -- both parties -- so why overthrow it. Dan Ellsberg has described 9/11 as a coup. Bush moved the goal posts -- permanently shifting America to the right. Obama has not taken us back. I expect this process to continue -- to the right -- why? Because too many Americans are like W*gs. No values. No integrity. No morality. Not enough good people have spoken up for what is right. The war against Iran is still very possible. The danger has not diminished. |

gaff-o is a stinking filthy hypocrite. On 9/11, we saw tragedy and death; gaff-o saw dollar signs. gaff-o is, without a doubt, one of the sickest people I've ever had the displeasure of meeting. |

BULL! You said that you "believed" that bush would cancel the elections. You did in fact make that prediction and now you are backing away from it.Quote:

No worries. Obama will save us and we will join hands and sing kumbaya as we enjoy gluten free meat free hotdogs and soygrass juice.

You are so right. The UN lead inspector just reported they continue to thwart inspections into the enrichment of uranium. Have added a ton more centrifuges to Nantanz mountain. Very real danger of them making a nuclear device. |

I read today that the TARP bank bailout is going to make money. So really it's the bill Bush passed to save the banks that is saving the economy. The stimulus bill is a big taxpayer giveaway.

Well if you want the TARP money back, roll back the Reagan tax cuts back to where they were in 1979. The money that the AIG's received would be paid back b/c their marginal tax rate increased. If the tax payers truly wanted their money back this is what would be advocated by the tax paying citizens of this country.

Israel has exactly around 400 Nukes themselves. And all this talk about Iran using nukes on Israel is Bull shiiiit b/c if Iran did, it would ensure the anihilation of their entire country! Since Israel long ago decided to go with Nukes, they really opened up Pandora's box for other ME countries to want to acquire Nukes as well. Besides, country's that have nukes have yet to be invaded and occupied. So one can say if you have nukes it allows for assurances that your country won't be invaded and occupied. Israel is playing with fire.
