Default John Stossel hit's the nail on the head

Every Critic a Racist

http://blogs.abcnews.com/johnstossel...-a-racist.html

During the presidential campaign, Barack Obama’s supporters promised that his election would allow America to “transcend race." Among the headlines:

The Boston Globe: "Obama shows an ability to transcend race”

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution: “Obama's success suggests we can transcend race”

But of course that hasn’t happened. Jonah Goldberg writes:

It was Obama’s supporters who hinted, teased, promised, and prophesied that Obama would help America “transcend race.” But now, it is they who shrink from their own promised land…

From Day 1, Obama’s supporters have tirelessly cultivated the idea that anything inconvenient for the first black president just might be terribly, terribly racist.

Goldberg has plenty of examples:

For instance, actress Janeane Garofalo summed up the tea parties thusly: “This is about hating a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up.”

In an ABC News story about how racist white militias are somehow connected to town-hall protests, Mark Potok of the dismayingly left-wing Southern Poverty Law Center insists Obama has “triggered fears among fairly large numbers of white people in this country that they are somehow losing their country.”

Come on. Every president eventually is criticized by the media – even one as “transcendent” as Obama. The President’s supporters should engage his critics with facts, not charges of racism.

Well that tears it. If Janene Garofolo says it's racists to be politically active on issues oposite of hers than by Gawd it must be. Seriously though? Why is it that nobody ever seems to see that race will continue to be an issue so long as people envoke it to add heat to thier argument. We are not now and may never be truely beyond racial bias in this country. But we by a damned site, alot farther along than ever in our history and playing the race card from either side erodes any steps we take forward. Honest to god the best example of what I mean here came from an episode of South Park. The boys in the show didn't understand the furor over the city flag because they didn't view it as racist because it didn't matter to them. It had never been an issue to them. The only people who it mattered to tried to influence the boys one way or the other and in doing so made them cognizent of the existence of racial differences. Now in this this episode the whole town moves on having learned from the boys but n real life such an incident might have only served to dilute what true racial equality could be. Stop making people choose sides and nobody will have to choose sides. Don't live your life giving more to or less to someone because the are white, black, asian or hispanic. Give the same to everyone because they are human

On the flip side of this topic, PRESIDENT Obama transends race so much that DNA Challenged Racist in this country have come out the wood work and set up an environment and climate to ensure President Barack Obama is the target of more than 30 potential death threats a day and is being protected by an increasingly over-stretched and under-resourced Secret Service.

Obama will undoubtedly set the record for the most death threats of any sitting President. Already Obama will over 7200 death threats by the end of August 2009. What does that say about the state of Conservative UnAmericans? More importantly what does this type of behavior exhibited by the radical factions of a shrinking Republican party hold for the future Republican President?

The threshold of healing will be enormous in terms of the hopes of the next GOP President suffering the same treatment that Obama will have endured. Already we have seen how Palin has had to pay the price of how conservatives hounded Hillary Clinton from 1992-2008. Bush paid the same price in terms of treatment from liberals as Clinton paid the same price from conservatives from 1992-2000! When will it end??

I wouldn't wish to be in any president's porition. Obama's high level of death threats are a combination of both policy and race. Every sitting president has gotten them mostly because of policy/party affiliation or just position. Obama gets them for race and this would likely explain the top half of the number you posted Rasta. But it can't all be race. Race explains the higher number but not the whole number. seriously Bush was one of the most polarizing figures in American history he probabily got more death threats than Nixon
